What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Just got done changing the oil, filter and greasing the driveshafts!

 

My 2020 SR5P rolled over 50k miles on the way home from a family trip to Sam's Club

Time to do the transfer case and differential fluid change.

Ordered redline fluids for TC and diff fluid swap. 20% at Oreilly helped save some $, too.

 

Maybe a tiiiiiny bit. It wouldn't be the most horrible thing in the world for a dude to admit he may be wrong, even if he doesn't think so. Same for women. Everyone would be a lot easier to tolerate if we occasionally took a bit of personal responsibility for ourselves and said "Oops. I fucked up." If I hadn't gone out to AutoZone and spent that $15 dollars and trusted myself to handle the situation, I would have had to give an otherwise avoidable ass-chewing to my other half for not taking my word on this over having read something in passing on this forum and not acted upon it.

 

Replaced oil and filter, rotated tires, greased driveshaft and installed new wiper blades on the 2011.
Drove to Granddaughter's birthday party.

 

What blades did you go with? My Bosch icons are due for replacement. Lasted me 14 months.

 

Keep the OE blades and replace the rubber insert with the one from Toyota

Had the 6112/5100 lift installed with the Dr. KDSS spacers...

 

Vikings Garage has a great video on keeping the OEM wipers and swapping out the inserts.

 

I don't have OEM wipers anymore, so it will have to be something aftermarket.

The weather got cool enough for me to FINALLY take my rig out for a shakedown trip. I solo camped a couple of nights in the Tray Mountain wilderness area of North Georgia.

Big takeaway is that I will need a rooftop cargo box to fit both my wife and our gear for our big trip to the Ozarks at the end of September. I'm probably going to pull the trigger on the 23zero 102L box.

Replaced the LH rear sway bar link. The boot was cracked and leaking when I bought the 4R at the end of 2022. Of course after 13 salty winters, the nut on the swivel joint didn't cooperate. Burning it with a propane torch for 5 minutes persuaded it enough to loosen. Just had to be careful to angle the flame away from the fuel tank

It’s an 18 inch mattress lol figured I would under inflate it a bit so it would fit over the 2 inch step from the trunk to the back seat.

 

Oil and filter on Wednesday. Then decided to install some Cali Raised cat shields I had waiting for a couple weeks. It was "cool" for AZ that day but still 108 by the time I got done. I decided then and there that diff/t-case/tranny fluids can wait til December...

 

Installed All-Top fridge slide onto rear sliding cargo tray, using 1/2” plywood as the base for the fridge slide. Not the best cut on the plywood but the slide and ICECO fridge is pretty solid. Let’s see how it holds up on the trails.
