Does anyone use Amsoil signature series 0w20

I've been using mobil1 Extended Performance and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for my 2016 4runner and 2020 tundra.
want to switch to Amsoil signature series and use on my 24 4runner
does anyone use Amsoil signature series here and thought?

 

I use it. Works fine but I don't use the extended intervals.

 

Does it work 5X better than Mobil 1 Extended Life? Because it's $26.24/qt. vs $5.39/qt. That's a joke. Especially if you're not using the extended intervals. But hey, it's your money. Burn it if you want to.

 

same, always change the oil around 8000kms(5k miles). how does the oil work in the cold weather(Canadian winter)?

 

5K miles doesn't come around too often for me anymore. I don't test my oil because it isn't an exotic car and it doesn't have a built engine. I have been dropping off from the Amsoil usage for engine oil and have switched to the off the shelf stuff I preach. My last one was with Kirkland and will Kirkland again for this upcoming oil change.

 

I wasn't busting your balls. I'm just genuinely curious why anyone would spend so much on oil? 5000 mile intervals with modern oil should make a 1GR-FE go 300K or more without issue. I use Mobil 1 full syn 0w-20 every 5K and I can still see through my oil when I change it.

 

And last sale online I ordered the Toyota branded oil (Exxon) for less than $6 quart delivered. So combine that with filters, etc. and its a no-brainer (for me) to keep doing that. I know a lot of folks like Amsoil but I've always had great luck with Mobil1 and its derivatives.

 

Duh...more expensive = better.

But really in my mind I was paying for better protection.

 

Oil is way overthought. In my decades of driving, I've never experienced excessive wear or oil consumption on any engine, regardless of the various oils I've used, aside from a 2002 Prizm with a design flaw that reared its head around 150k miles. $26/quart is ridickerous.

 

I have a new favorite word.

 

I use Amsoil in my C7 Z06 corvette and used it for my first oil in my 23 Pro. Not sure if I will stay with it for my second oil change. I added it when I changed it at 1000 miles on the 4runner.

 

Very much this a million times over.

 

I use Amsoil in mine but mainly because I have a 04 Honda odyssey that I used Amsoil in, that now has 420K miles on it. When I pulled the heads, when the head gasket failed at 335K miles, it was one of the cleanest engines myself or my buddy have ever seen, and we were both mechanics. In addition the original transmission made it to 315K miles on Amsoil, with those transmissions being plagued with problems. I towed a lot including on a lot of steep and long mountain passes so I was extremely impressed which is another reason I continue to use Amsoil products.

I do 7500 mile oil changes on both the van and the 4runner, and while I have not done an oil analysis on the 4runner, I did do them periodically on the van. According to blackstone I could have extended my change interval to over 10K miles. If I wasn't running Amsoil I would run mobil one at a 7500 mile interval and based on the car care nut, my own personal and professional opinions and observations I would run 5K intervals with anything else.

Not sure where the $26 a quart figure came from but you can buy it from Amsoil directly for $15.49 a quart without paying the $25 a year membership fee or $11.89 a quart or $44.29 for a gallon jug with a membership.

Those are fighting words to some watch out.

 

An oil change might be more than $200 with filter and tax. That's insane. This is not an exotic sports car.

 

I use 5W30 Mobil 1, and have on all my Runners since 1998. My current 2024 TRD ORP had its first oil and filter change at 1000 kilometers. Going forward, every 8000K. When I used the first ones in the oilpatch, I plugged them in at -35F if possible. On a few occasions it wasn't possible, and yet they started. I park in an attached garage, and never plugged in the last two Runners.

 

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, it is as good and way cheaper. You can get a 5 quart jug for $29 from Walmart
