What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

A dent guy might be able to pull that out.

 

The most recent thing I did to the runner is sell it. Didn't think I would, but had an opportunity on a GX460 I couldn't pass up. It was a great rig, at least it went to another 4Runner enthusiast. I will have a couple mods for sale shortly.

 

Installed FitCamX Dash Cam (Front and Rear camera). Spent a little extra time running the cable to the rear to not break anything. Used the Etsy mount for the camera.

Tested in the driveway and it looks to be a great product. We’ll see how it does with time.

We also have a 2020 GX . Great vehicle.

 

Picked up a set of used black OE roof rails from a TRD OR, and replaced the stock silver ones.

Replaced the stock halogen bulbs with new Lasfit LED bulbs.

Replaced the engine air filter, and cabin air filter. Recent oil change at the local stealership just in time for my 14 hour one way trip!

Wanting to swap/paint/wrap my silver roof rails and end caps. Only thing chrome left.how much do the black ones run?
Also, avoid using LEDs in halogen housing. Causes extreme glare to oncoming traffic with no improvement in visibility and illumination.

 

I used this to paint my roof rails. It's holding up very well. Take your time prepping.

 

Did you remove it, sand it, primer and then use this or just cleaned it with alcohol, masked it and spray this directly ?

 

I took off my silver roof rack and sanded, cleaned, and spray painted the side rails and caps. I just used classic black Tremclad rust paint, instead of a specific plastic paint. It looks perfect three years later. Goodluck!

 

Got the fronts tinted to 18% today

 

Took it off scuffed it with a red scotch brite pad, wiped it down with alcohol and sprayed it. No primer.

 

Save your money and just remove and paint your rails. Easy job and they come out looking factory.

 

Gave it a bath before I take the family to dirty Myrtle for the week. Lots more room in the 4R than my wife's cx5

 

Finally was able to install the last decal, 4WDABC 2025, on my rear side window; completing the look I had during a vision, in January LOL
[I do have one black 4Runners .com decal I am going to stick in a hidden location tho]

 

Not so much something I did to my 4R but this arrived at my dealer today. Been waiting a few months for it.

A few tweaks of the sound settings and the improvement is really noticeable..

 

In CO it seems once your vehicle is past the 5 year old mark, it gets substantially less expensive. My 2019 Lexus was surprisingly inexpensive to register a couple months ago, and again my 2010 T4R will be pocket change to put plates on. Anything new is just outrageously pricy, unfortunately.

 

Excuse my Canadian ignorance but when you guys talk about yearly registration, is that in addition to insurance?

 

Oh yes, and it varies by state. Colorado is one of the more expensive ones (though not as bad as others, I'm learning). Registering and getting plates for a new or almost-new car here is really expensive, it gets less so with older vehicles. Some states let you pay ahead for 2 years, CO doesn't allow this.

 

Finally got one of those armrest covers, still think they look a little cheap but damn this is a comfy upgrade. It has about an inch of padding and some pockets I don't need or want.



Also installed a Tanabe Revel Trail Hart Medallion, gonna run the side exit for a while then try the turndown.

 

I also have the Tanabe. I replaced the TRD exhaust due to the drone. I went straight to the dump tip. No regrets!

 

His/her/their rig looks so clean, uncluttered, compared to your rig. Maybe he/she/they are flexing on you?
