First off sorry for spelling, second I am not sure if I'm in the wrong place to start/post this, and third I am not sure if this is new.

So my question is : are parts from the years within a generation compatible/interchangeable with others of the same year? I.e '00 over to an '02

Sometimes, not always. What specifically were you wanting to know?

Nothing to specific just like if I was to find some engine, trans or suspension parts on other years of they work well with generations or do I have shorter span. Like only '01 or '02 are compatible. Nothing specifically for now

A few things here and there. Still dreaming up stuff
Most everything in the 01 and 02 are the same. now if you pulled from a 96 or 97 then there will be some differences.

Suspension wise and most mechanical, you should be good from '96 thru '02. The big differences were exterior and interior trim. Utah will be able to verify this.

Well I know for a fact that some The center console of the 96' are different then from new models I think they changed in 00'.
Also I think in the New years of the 3rd gens they moved the charcoal canaster from the Motor area to above the Gas tank like the 1st Gen Tacomas. Those are just a few thinks I came across so far. Also the "Gray" Wire mod for Anytime Locker is actually a "Blue/Red" wire mod on the 3rd gens.

My guess would by most the sensors are the same on any 3rd gen 4runner and probably 1st gen tacoma. I know I've used same o2 sensor on both. My ABS sensors look the same as well.
