Entune update for Nov 2018, boo!

I just got my new TRD OR in Aug and I received an email today from Toyota stating they will be updating Entune (Yea!!!!, oh no) they are taking away pandora, opentable, and facebook. Awesome just got pandora one and now can't use it. boooo

 

Never installed the app after reading the EULA. "You are giving your permission to track you via GPS while using the app"

The entire app suite is a SCAM, only developed to track you and collect users data and CRAP functionality. Functional you can get just by doing the blue tooth connection. They give you an icon to press on the screen is about it, all goes back through your cell phone anyways.

"Lets design an app that collects everyone's data and offer no real usability. Sure they won't' read the EULA." This is absolutely ridiculous and WORSE than what FB and some of the other apps out there is collecting on everyone.


"Information Collected and Transmitted via the Application. You acknowledge that your vehicle automatically and remotely transmits multimedia system usage data to Toyota without notification to you, once your mobile device is paired via Bluetooth to the multimedia system. This data includes, but is not limited to, vehicle hardware information, location, mobile phone information, applications accessed and commands pressed. This data is used to operate the service, for internal research and product development, and to improve products and services. Such data is held for a period of 5 years. Further details regarding collection and use of your personal information and vehicle data are provided at http://www.toyota.com/privacyvts. The Vehicle’s multimedia system operates as a display monitor only, and the data you see is obtained from your mobile device. Please see section 5 for Vehicle Travel Information."


Information Storage. Depending on the type of multimedia system you have in your Toyota Vehicle, certain information may be stored for ease of use of the Application via the Toyota Vehicle’s multimedia system (e.g., search history, location history in certain applications, previous and saved destinations (entered via your use of the GPS functionality of the Toyota Vehicle’s multimedia system), map locations within certain applications, and device numbers that are called via the Toyota Vehicle’s multimedia’s Bluetooth connection).


You acknowledge that any collection, use, and sharing of your information by any of the applicable third party application providers, any targeted advertising practices conducted by such third party application providers, and your use of the third party applications accessible and/or found within the Application, shall be subject to that third party application provider’s terms and conditions and privacy policy, as applicable


Vehicle Travel Information. You acknowledge that your Vehicle is equipped with a traffic feature. The traffic feature will automatically collect and transmit, through GPS technology, your Vehicle’s current location (longitude and latitude), travel direction and speed (“Vehicle Travel Information”) to Toyota, including its Third Party Service Providers. The Vehicle Travel Information is used by Toyota’s Third Party Service Provider to provide real time traffic information to you.

Vehicle Destination Information. You acknowledge that your Vehicle is equipped with a destination feature that shares data between the vehicle navigation system and your mobile device. If your mobile phone is paired and contains the Scout GPS mobile application, the destination feature will automatically collect and transmit, through GPS technology, your Vehicle’s current location and final destination (longitude and latitude) to the Scout GPS mobile application if you have not yet arrived at that final destination. The destination feature information contains no personally identifiable information and cannot be tracked to you or your Vehicle Identification Number (“VIN”). No data is shared if the Scout GPS application is not present on your mobile phone, or the final destination was already reached.


User Voice Commands. You acknowledge and understand that Toyota, including its Third Party Service Providers, may record and retain user voice commands once you’ve initiated contact with your Entune Application. Your personally identifiable information will not be associated with such voice command recordings. Therefore, for yourself, your Vehicle’s occupants and anyone using the Entune Application in your Vehicle, you consent to all such recording and retention of voice commands and release Toyota and third-party beneficiaries from claims, liabilities and losses that may result from any such recorded voice commands.

 

OMG I never read that. You mean to tell me they can actually track my current and past movements?!?!?!?!?! So you are saying that they KNOW I drive to work and park my 4Runner all day. And then I drive home and park it there all night??? And they can see that I do this EVERY day?!?!?!

Do they know I took it to the grocery store as well?????

How do I delete this?

 

I can see the ENTUNE operations center... they are looking at map of the US with all these 4Runners driving around. Lol!!

Seriously this should be illegal, even if they do have it documented and someone agree’s.

who knows maybe the 3rd party companies are the same companies in other apps we use. BIG DATA. The little blue tooth key chain you can buy for your keys so you don’t misplace them, read that EULA! Very scary. If you collect enough logistics information about someone it’s pieced together to make a very detailed profile.

I hear grocery stores and department stores are installing microphones inside the isles and shelf’s so they can hear you discuss the product your looking at.

Paraphrased


A lot of apps /games made are designed to just collect info on you, they just skin the app with a game and you feed it information.

We need to get back to paper and pens, and having face to face conversations with people.

 

Has anyone contacted Toyota for compensation, upon removal of provided accessories? Like having bought the truck with “cool” apps and then them no longer being provided seems like there should be some sort of compensation? We wouldn’t let them cancel the 4x4 capability of a truck why should they be able to cancel this?

 

You already have agreed there is no assumed guarantee of services. This is standard in all EULA. They can change anything at anytime they want.

 

That is standard language. I can track you if I want. No big deal.
