Fitting 33's?

I’m not sure if I’m in the right place but I was wondering if anyone knew if 33s will fit on stock height of a 5th gen 4Runner. Also looking for a 4” lift as well. Hopefully some of you guys can help a brother out on some suggestions. Thanks!

 

33's will not fit with stock height. 3" is the max lift you can go without going to a drop bracket style lift.

 

I have a deal with my work that I can trade in the tires that it comes with for a straight up swap of brand new tires. Have to be firestone or Bridgestone. I’d like to take them up on his offer obviously. I was thinking a 285/70/17. I have to do it before the tires have 500 miles on them so time is of the essence. Again thank you for the replies!

 

I had to do the front fender liner mod (pushing it forward and redrilled the mounting holes) and a bit of bumper trimming. I also trimmed some of the mudflap off where it bulged but I have zero rub on stock suspension. Open Country RT 285/70/17

 

Daohaus, those wheels look great. What make are those?

 

Rotiform they're usually big in the lowered car scene but have made some cast off-road versions of their popular road wheels . This is the SIX-OR model

Are those 285/70R17 Rotiforms = 33.0" in diameter? If so have you re-geared or is the stock gearing handling those tires...

 

I have 33.4" tires (Nittos) with a 3-inch lift, and needed a slight BMC. I re-geared to 4.88, but also have a lot of additional weight on my rig. I don't necessarily think re-gearing is critical with just a 33" tire swap, but it doesn't hurt (the wallet maybe...).

 

It's stock gearing right now and honestly I didn't notice a huge hit in performance, even my speedometer didn't get thrown off like it did on my previous 3rd taco . You'll be fine but as @JosephMehta mentioned if you stats adding weight you'll have to think about it

@teknikk7 i know you didn't ask me but thought i'd share anyway. Also, coming back from a camping trip this weekend with 20+ miles of tight mixed terrain going up and down on stock suspension I didn't have an issue w/ these tires.

 

@Daohaus did you ever upgrade the suspension or keep it stock? Any issues later on down the road?

I'm looking at swapping the rubbers on my TRD Pro wheels for the 255/80/17 Cooper STMAXX's and have found mix responses... 2011 SR5 has 5100's all around and the front set to .85" so hoping they'll work without the need for a bigger lift or UCA upgrade.

Were you able to fit your 33" spare in the stock location undermount?

 

Does anyone here have experience with undermount in the stock of a 33" in tire, more specifically 285/70/17, on a 5th gen 4runner? I have the 2021 TRD PRO and am in the process of getting a Wescott Designs lift (just shy of 2") with 285/70/17 (32.71", 11.22" height, with 7.85" sidewall) Mickey Thompson AT Baja Boss tire. The shop (mostly a jeep shop) is telling me the spare will not fit the undermount location. The stock size of tire was a 265/70/17. TIA!

 

I have a 255/80/17 (no KDSS) in the factory tire carrier - no issues.

 

Yes. I carry a 285/70/17 spare underneath regularly. I also recently learned that a 295/70/17 fits. I have KDSS.

BTW, stock tire size is 265/70/17.

So y'all are correct! I got it back today (hubby had to pick it up for me) and I got under there and checked myself. It fits. End of story ‍♀️
