Seen some posts on the AC Magnetic Relay. AC is blowing but I don’t think the compressor is turning on. Any Ideas? Figured it would be an easy relay switch change, could it be a belt?

Ours started blowing warmer and warmer air when we used it. Just added 22oz. can of freon, now blowing cold air. The system may have a slow leak somewhere. I guess I’ll find out if it stops working again.

Leaking evaporator is a common failure point on 4th gens. Time consuming job to replace the evap core. Quick and inexpensive and effective job to recharge with refrigerant.

I had same AC issues in my 2005 4 runners. The mechanic said to replace the 12-year-old compressor ($200) with new one and she cools great again.

We checked it with dye and the compressor on mine was the leak.

A year later when the ac stopped cooling, I then took it to a top AC shop and they replaced the evaporator for $800 labor and the car AC has been like ice for three months.

Charges every 2 weeks is a waste of time and money.

    Stuff wears out!

Just recharging a 15 year old system won't bring your AC back. Replace the evaporator and compressor. Be cool!

I think that the main problem is in the freon liquid. In my Toyota Highlander, there was a leakage of freon liquid which eventually caused some issues with my AC. I am not sure whether my problem is the same as yours because I had only temporary delays in cold air, but the hot air went well. If I were you, I would consult with someone who had the same issue or with professionals. My friend recommended me airconservicing.org since they are 15 years on the market for air conditioners and can solve your problem.

Easy way to check the compressor is turn your ac on high in the cabin then pop the hood and watch for the magnetic clutch to engage, or not. Its run off your serpentine belt

Look at the hose connections. Could be a leaky hose. Also check evap for staining. Could be a pinhole leak.

FWIW, I took it to a shop even though I know how to deal with some ac stuff. Dealing with the coolant can be giant pain in the ass.

could be any of the things others have mentioned. relay is the cheapest and easiest to replace though...I'd start there.

Respectfully, troubleshoot the problem and don’t just throw parts at the problem.
