Hey hey! So I leveled my 2018 Off Road with KDSS because all of the shops around here and Toytec didn’t recommend a lift with the KDSS (at the time). Now I see they have an option for a lift with the KDSS. I’m guessing a few manufacturers have them available now. Basically, I want a 4” up to 6” lift for it and I’d like suggestions from anyone who has one. Also, with a 4” or 6” lift does it require any other mods, i.e. brake lines or any of that? I’m the (Maryland) area also and looking for a good shop that works on these. Thanks everyone!

I had a 2010 Trail 4Runner with KDSS in 2010 with a 3” OME suspension lift and I’m not sure why they gave you that advice, but it’s flat out wrong.

4”-6” is going to more than likely be a drop bracket lift which means cutting the cross number under the engine and a slew of other things and $$$.

You could go with a nice 2”-3” suspension lift with upper control arms and a cab mount chop and be good.

Personally, I’m not a fan of DB lifts because I don’t like the looks of them and the big ass vertical flat spot it creates under the engine.

Oh my! I didn’t think it would entail quite that much. You’re right, I don’t want to spend a ton and definitely don’t want a vehicle with 5k miles to be cut and welded. 3” lift is starting to sound more realistic. Thanks for the info!

Get PRO takeoffs. They're OEM, work great and you can find them cheap. Here's a brand new set for $750.

Then you'll have a TRD Pro with KDSS for a lot cheaper than $10,000.

Almost any suspension system will fit KDSS. If you lift 2" to 3" you do need new UCAs for alignment. No body mount chop for me. That compromises the integrity of the cab in case of a side or corner frontal accident.

Toytec Lift, SPC UCA's, Nitto Terra Ridge Grappler so far!
I lifted my 2018 4Runner Off Road Premium with the Toytec system. I installed the lift myself with the help of a youtube video from Wonderlost Overland. They were very helpful! I have the KDSS system and it was no problem installing the lift. I had to disconnect the KDSS but with the help of some youtube videos, it was not a problem. I also replaced the UCA's. I had Nitto Terra Ridge Grappler 285-70-17 put on my stock wheels. Here are some pics.

Like others have said, the shops you spoke to was ill informed. Go elsewhere to get work done if they're telling you that.

I plan on doing a slightly higher "TRD Pro" style lift with Bilstein 6112 frt/ 5160 rear in the coming week and I'm equipped with KDSS
