Hey all, new here- just purchased a brand new 2018 trd OR 4Runner in nautical blue metallic. Quick hood scoop question- Is the painted insert at the front of the scoop plastic? It appears to be, but mine also appears to have a dent or indentation right in the center as if it’s metal- maybe it’s just adhesive or something. Let me know if it’s plastic, normal, etc. I was curious. Happy to be here!

Welcome! As far as the scoop, the one on my 14 trail is plastic. And does nothing, lol.

My ‘18 is plastic. I’m almost 100% sure they all would be. Could have been an issue when it was made? Got a picture of what your referring to? Might help us better see what you are talking about.

My '18 TRD Pro has the same dent/indentation in the plastic scoop. Thought something or someone hit it all this time. Sounds and looks like a manufacturing defect after all (at least for this year). Glad to know I'm not alone.

    Anyone else with this issue?

Of course this isn't normal and I'm sure neither of us would have taken delivery had we noticed. But it's actually hard to notice at first glance. Here's what it usually looks like. The first image above was shot at the perfect angle to highlight the bowing.
