    Problem:
Step on the gas pedal and it feels like the truck falls on its face before taking off. There is a hesitation of about 1 second before the engine kicks in and the truck goes. I can step on the pedal lightly to get past this hesitation before going but the hesitation is still there, just not felt as much. The lag happens in park and neutral as well as in gear (Automatic Transmission). I have done a few things myself based on other threads as well as taking it to the dealer with no solution. There are no codes coming up on the computer. Other threads have become too cluttered, hoping a new one can help identify root cause and solution.

    What I've done:
Changed plugs, ignition coils, MAF sensor
    Cleaned K&N air filter
Fuel system cleaner and ran through whole tank of gas to empty
    Dealership comments:
    Fuel is good
    Fuel pressure is good
Cats are functioning as they should.

    Please help...

    Clean your mass airflow censor.

I haven't gotten into TB yet. The drive by wire system is a little different. Anybody have experience getting into this? It looks like it is mostly a sealed unit.

We’re you ever able to solve this issue? I know the thread is old...
I have an 05’ SR5 and I’ve experienced the exact same thing-

Remove the intake, take the tb completely off and clean it from the back side. You can CAREFULLY open the butterfly with your finger, but be gentle.

    Wow- hmmm.
    Cleaned then replaced throttle body-
    Cleaned, replaced MAF sensor
    - I recently purchased the “sprint booster”
    -
    What I’ve learned is;
When I use the sprint booster, the truck still hesitates upon acceleration.
    (Same behavior while in neutral)
However, I put the sprint booster on its lowest setting, and I’ve finally found a work around- there’s barely a hesitation upon initial acceleration and it barely effects the throttle performance in relation to the pedal position.

I’d still like to definitively know what the issue is

Drive by wire is a work in progress. There is a delay in response between the pedal sensor sending signal to the ecu, and then to the throttle position sensor and actuator. I think our rigs are first generation dbw, the 5th gens are tuned much better. Aside from normal engine operation, sprint booster helps quite a bit. I have a spectre intake and a JET maf and sprint booster, no throttle lag. Is your fuel economy still ok?
