upgraded to Iphone 15 pro max - now carplay not connecting.

Good morning.

I recently upgraded to the Iphone 15 Pro Max and I can no longer connect to my stock infotainment center. The phone goes back and forth between wanting to charge/connect and not. Any thoughts/suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Also looking into the wireless Apple CarPlay devices. I've seen a couple on the forum but I've also seen quite a few new devices online. Any suggestions?

First suggestion would be to try a second cable after rebooting the phone to eliminate that as being a culprit.

 

Update your phone first and replace the cable before attempting the following.

Make sure you've deleted your old phone from the car's memory.

 

I have turned off and rebooted my phone, switched cables and deleted my phone and reinstalled onto the infotainment unit. It's still not responding correctly (doing the same thing). I don't have a spare USB drive so I'll have to go purchase one to upgrade firmware. Always a little hesitant to mess with the firmware but I'm at a loss. Thanks

welcome. I also use a 15 pro max, but don't have stock head unit and still had the problem.
Catbrown357 has it right, make sure you delete ALL the connections you ever had with other phones and start new. And the wireless adapter isn't a bad idea, they work pretty well too. That way all connections go to the adapter and the headunit only ever sees the one connection.

 

Yep. When I got my 15 pro max, I obliterated any trace of my old 11 pro on every car (4R, Tundra, Audi S5) and had no problems connecting on both stock HUs and aftermarket HUs. I find this happens in a lot of the aircraft I fly if there are too many devices trying to connect. I have to delete several, or all sometimes, before my devices will connect. At least it's only once in my vehicles.

 

Thanks for your input everyone. It appears the culprit was the small USB A to USB C adapter I was using. I purchased a USB A to USB C apple certified cable ($2.99) on Amazon and it fixed the issue. I'm still considering an OttoCast (Netflix/Youtube) version as I spend a lot of time waiting in the 4Runner.
