Trying to buy my first 4Runner

Hi, I'm working on buying a new 4runner with KDSS. I've been told several things about how I need to buy the vehicle in order to get KDSS but the configuration never says KDSS.... one dealer said it's available on the Pro only, one says I have to buy it as an add on like a supercharger and have it installed and another says that all of the Trail Premium vehicles have it.... when I go on Toyota web site it's 1000 extra so I dont think it comes on all Trail Premium as a standard feature. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

 

You buying new? I'm in Canada and all the trd off road have KDSS and moonroof here. I believe you have to get the trd off road premium to get KDSS.

TRD pro doesn't have KDSS as far as I know.

 

Oldcamper, I just bought a 2018 TRD Off Road Premium. I came standard with that trim line.

 

KDSS is not a standard options on any trim level. It’s a optional upgrade on the off-road and off-road Premium.

The Pro (in the US) can’t be had with KDSS or a sunroof.

I have an off-road Premium without KDSS, seems to be more “rare” to find it without on that trim level.

It’s no a dealer added extra from what research I’ve done, not like buying a skid plate from the dealer after you buy the truck.

KDSS is an option at about 1,700 on the TRD Off Road and Off Road Premium. It is not available on the SRD, Limited or Pro.

 

Yes I am buying new, in the North Texas area. I'm looking all over Texas and Oklahoma. KDSS seems to be pretty rare here, all the Trail Premiums have sunroof and off road pkg. I may have located one that has KDSS and it is indeed 1700 extra, off road is 3700 and the moonroof is 850

 

I would definitely try and get a KDSS 4Runner. If you're planning on lifting your truck, you might want to hold off but otherwise, I drove KDSS and non KDSS runners, the difference is huge.

 

I drove a trail premium that the salesperson claimed had KDSS... it's just not a line item he explained - comes standard on Trail Premium just like rear diff lock and so forth..... I drove it and didnt like it very welll at all.
I found out what it physically looks like and went back today and looked under the truck - no KDSS. Thats when I started hunting for one that specifically says KDSS just like sunroof etc.... finally found ONE....

 

Not a great salesmen!
