Hey there just curious if anyone could point me in the direction of some information or previous threads on swapping a w56c in place of a g58 transmission.

    This is on a 1995 4Runner,

I do realize I would need to also ditch the chain driven transfer case the G58 uses. But I’m not sure what else I might need to adapt the parts in the swap.

Searching w56 retuned one result only so I assume my search skills are either off or this place has abandoned 2nd gen conversation.

    Thanks for any advice.

This information will be found on marlincrawler.com or pirate4x4.com.

What engine does your 4Runner have, 22re right? Both are 22re transmissions so it mostly bolts right up. If you can find one with a gear drive transfer case already attached that’s a bonus. If not, don’t believe you will need any adapter to mate a gear drive transfer case on the w56c.

If you do end up needing to mate a transfer case to the new w56c, pay attention to the input shaft spline count. Should be 21 spline. You will find 23 spline from the turbo 4cyl or v6 truck.
