Just picked up a 2016 SR5 package. the vehicle came without a homelink set up. I was wondering if anyone had purchased a unit and added it to their Runner. I keyword searched the forums and didn't come with anything using "homelink" and "garage door". Looking mostly for a good OEM part number I can search for.

    Thx, LF

My vehicle does not have the homelink module installed in the overhead console. I was hoping someone a had purchased an SR5 like mine. had added this set up, and could provide a part number for the unit.

If anyone wants to do this mod to a Runner, that is not equipped with a home link mirror or the upper console switches, the part number for the frameless mirror kit is 00016-05463. This should provide the mirror and all wiring to get Home Link as well as a compass and temp in the rear view mirror. Be advised, I've yet to do this mod, so I can't say if the same info displayed in the message center will be effected. I plan to do it in a month or so and will post results then.

My wife's 4Runner came with it, but my Tacoma didn't. The Tacoma's have it in the mirror, not the upper console like the 4Runners. However, they wanted $599 for a new mirror!! I ebayed it and picked up a used one from a wrecked vehicle for $120 shipped. Installed it myself in 10 minutes. It didn't have a single scratch on it, looks brand new. So check out that route first before coughing up a fortune at the dealer if you are a DIY kinda person.

I just eBayed it. You might have some success that way.

Thanks Fajita. My price on the kit was $170.00 installed by the dealer I bought my Runner from.

Dang not bad. I know people will say $170 is a bunch for a garage door opener, but it was literally the only tech item my truck didn't have, and I've seen enough headlight mods (that look amazing) that cost much more, and provide no functionality at all, just looks. So to each their own, that's the beauty of these things, there's a million ways to make yours unique.

I'm trying to do the same with my non-premium Trail edition.
I looked at a new Trail in the dealer and it seems there should be a part that pops into the overhead console.
I don't want the mirror option. I'm looking for the Toyota oem switch part that goes in the overhead console.

Worth investigating this info I found on another site.....

Southeast Toyota Distributors offers a very similar mirror as option for the 4Runner. Part number is 00016-05463. It is electrochromic with Homelink and compass.

Has anyone posted pics of this? i bought my wife a 2017 SR5 and i want to put a homelink mirror in hers. There is no power to the current mirror and i know homelink requires power. i pulled the overhead panel down and didnt see where the cable would plug into. Has anyone done this yet?

I want the homelink that goes in the overhead console, not the mirror.
But I haven't found the appropriate part and no one has posted the info yet.

The current generation come from the factory with homelink in the overhead console, not the mirror.

Perhaps the installation procedure for the mirror may help someone?

Thanks. I looked up that part number and I think that is for the whole overhead console.
I was hoping to find just the homelink module that attaches to the inside of the overhead console.
    It can’t be that much.
I can’t seem to locate it in the parts diagrams.

I bought one (part 81260-35601-B0) with homelink but without everything else for $160 and found a way to fit the module into my existing overhead console. The harnesses inside all matched up. Because the one I got didn’t quite match up with the piece with the knobs I had to trim it with a miter saw (with a really fine blade). There is a very minor bit of light between the two pieces (I measured a bit wrong) but it looks fine and it works beautifully.

FWIW, I find the $20 visor clicker on my 2019 to be faster in operation than the homelink in my 2010. After comparing the two I don't think homelink is worth the $$$ for the upgrade. I do miss the auto dim mirror though.
