Maybe I'm missing it, but is there a section somewhere here for trails, perhaps even divided up by region? It is a handy section, so if there is not one here, maybe we could start one.

There's a well-worn trail between my apartment and the ABC store up on Midlothian Turnpike.

There's not a thorough list...I can find a solid source from one of big trail sites and put it on here, along with suggestions from the members

Depending on how active members are a stickied thread for regions (NE, SW, SE, NW, or whatever) the list could theoretically populate itself. I've found the best trails/fire roads, etc are the ones NOT on the normal lists. Heck, one of the most entertaining state roads I've ever been on was a total accident.

We were following the GPS home from Stonewall Resort in WV....turned onto a gravel state road and ended up having a blast on the most rutted up, muddy, rocky, off camber, tree blocked state 'maintained' road I have ever been on, lol.

It was so bad it actually looked like we were climbing out of the woods into someones backyard at the end of it. I actually got out and walked up to make sure we were not :)

I'm game. I guess we could try it without regions first, just a single thread for the CONUS...it would be messy though.

I sure would like to find some areas in SE Michigan. I know of two that are 5o miles away but something closer would be nice. :)

A 'regional' trail section would be handy. I know folks are not real eager to give up their secret squirrel locations, but at least a section where easily accessible, public trails/fire roads can be found would be cool for newer people getting into going offroad.

Google only does but so much.

I think I ran across it not long ago. Looking at again is a good reason as to why a regional trail section would be nice. Don't get me wrong, I really like the setup of the site, but with only a handful of trails showing for Va when there are definitely a ton more..... Big Levels, SW of Charlottesville is a pretty popular park service run trail, but it isn't on there. Again, not bashing, just noting. A big issue is that there are just so many more places to wheel out West than here on the East Coast.

Another example, even some state maintained roads that are not specific 4x4/jeep trails in West Va are more entertaining than nearly anything in Va, but you won't find them on any trail maps.

I'll bookmark the site though, I'd like to spend more time checking it out when I can, thanks!

It's definitely a work in progress, we don't have a lot of the trails out east yet.

I've definitely got it bookmarked for whenever we get to go out West. I'm wanting to do a Colorado trip in the next few years. I have a friend I can stay with in Loveland as homebase.

BestGen, is this mainly a west coast site or does it cover the whole US?

I thought it was a national site. It has a feature(supposedly)to search for trails by state. But it looks like they only cover the Golden and Silver states.
