Anyone have any ideas on how to disable or change the annoying unlocking double beeps? Or with the quadruple beeps when pressing unlock twice?

Probably a few tech savvy guys on here could tell you. I wanted the dealer to do this when we picked it up, but the wife said NO!. I am the sad now.

I did that key fob thing with my Wife's former '10 Rav4, but not the 4R, yet.

Indeed. Below is a copy/paste from my post on T4R, many others have done the same either with Carista or Techstream:

    Panlong OBD2 scanner model PL-W03

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Carista app from Apple on iPhone running iOS 10.2.1

    - Plug scanner into OBD port located under the dash next to parking brake

    - Turn ignition to 'on'

    - Enable WiFi on the phone and connect to the scanner

    - Open Carista on phone, click on Customize and you will be prompted to connect to whichever device you are using and then it will scan for the available customizations

When you first start, select just one setting to change, save it and then you will be prompted to disconnect from the OBD2 device in order to connect to the internet. This should then take you to your purchase options. Select the trial period and as long as you cancel the subscription in 6 days (apparently you need to cancel a day before the trial ends) you are good to go.

Once you get verification of the trial being enabled, close Carista and turn off WiFi. Turn WiFi back on and then reconnect via Carista. Select your desired customizations and you are all set. From start to finish it took me just under 15 minutes.

I just need to remember to cancel the subscription by the 18th.

Carista is a subscription paid service just to turn off the beeps?.. screw that... sounds like something that voids Warrenty anyways..... need to find out the key fob codes

Carista was free as a trial through iTunes, for a very short period of time. The Key is CANCELING the subscription before you have to pay for it. My only expense was the OBD2 reader, all of about $20.

I find this humorous. The sounds are there to protect the automakers and insurance from, shall I say...idiots.

I saw this in the news today and I couldn’t help but be completely baffled by it.

    http://money.cnn.com/2018/05/13/news/keyless-car-deaths-carbon-monoxide-new-york-times/index.html

As is, Toyota and Lexus have 3 separate audible indicators to tell someone their car is still running but they lead the pack IRT carbon monoxide deaths.

I can see it now following insurance claim denial for vandalized or stolen vehicles. “I thought it was locked...I pressed the key fob but didn’t hear anything so I assumed it was locked.”

Personally, I like it considering I am stuck parking on the street and am on the 2nd level of an apartment. I lean up to the front window at night before bed and press the lock button and that single chirp is reassurance.

The dealer can make a single push, all door lock/unlock. Why they would you charge, for that, i wouldnt get, but, they may.

Also, i like the beeps over the horn bullshit all day, errrryday.

Wurd.... To each their own. I know some of this pain. I have a COMPUSTAR fob. And, unless i time it perfect, even 5 "unlocks" wont do the rear/pass doors. So, me and the old lady come outta the ampm with our sodas, and 447 beeps later, shes in lol. I just dont give a shit about the beeps, but her standing there, looking at me, like the dope i am, gets a LIL annyoing, although, i dont give a shit much about that either lol.

My last vehicle had both the beep and horn disabled and it had its advantages and disadvantages. I liked that I could lock my car without the whole neighborhood knowing about it, but it is also nice to be out of sight line and know its locked by the sound. With my last car I had to either be close enough to hear the locks or be able to see the blinkers flash.

When I bring my truck in for the first oil change, I'm gonna ask toyota if they can change it so I press unlock once and all doors unlock.... hate hearing that double beep... hope it's not expensive for them to do

Carista is fine, have it and only paid for the original 30 day subscription. Now I signed up for the BETA testing which allows me to test and also change items similar to the dealer. No affect on warranty.

In the Manual it tells you all the things that can be changed via computer. One I thought was funny; change the delay from when the back wiper returns to the housing 2 seconds -5 seconds

Look towards the back in the Customization section. This is on my 2018 btw

    D30F4FED-BA32-4F38-8E63-A29B8A124580.jpg

I’m guessing it’s the buzzer sound? Not real sure and didn’t see one that turns it off. At I did t see something that clearly explained it!

Also if you double click faster, it won’t quadruple beep. Just a double beep. Double click unlocks all doors. I thought it was annoying as well for the quad beep

Great info, thanks. Other than the seat belt chime and door lock customization, what other things can be changed in the 5th gen?
