20004 4wheel drive won't engage. Both green and yellow lights flash. Suspecting the actuator not working. How are the pins numbered and what should have voltages on it. Tried to search on the forum but came up with nothing.

Well after trying everything I read online for over 6 months it appears all I had to do was post to this forum. Shortly after I posted this I had to go pick my little one up from school and tried to engage the 4X4 and shifted it into N and then back to D and the green light is solid. Went in and out about 10 times and all is good now. Will keep an eye on it. Now time to go post some questions about my Merkur.

My actuator went out. Was a spendy repair I wish I checked before I bought.

Hey Guys, new member here with same problem. I just purchased this 04 Limited out of Manhattan, NY and had it shipped to me in Utah. I suspect it has never been driven in 4x4, certainly not L4. H4 with VSC off puts it into 4x4. Cannot do same with L4. It beeps and the Lo light flashes. Any suggestions outside of bringing it to the dealer for a costly repair? Thanks, see you on the Moab trail.

This is probably late, but to activate 4Lo, you must shift to neutral first, then switch to 4 Lo and the light will be solid with no flashing.
