The biggest benefit to the flash kit bundle is the convenience of flashing your vehicle at your discretion, and ease of receiving tune updates.

Depending on the vehicle and requested updates, update cycles tend to follow roughly 1-2 year circulations.

As a customer, you can get them for free, so if we publish something then just reach out with your info.

I just booked in a Tune appointment with your local tuner - any chance the revised tune is rolling out yet? Just read some of the recent buzz on it and wondering if I should have held off.

We've been rolling out a confirmed safe test version of the Blackhawk update with new tune sales/appointments.

A vast majority of customers report increases but ultimately no one can guarantee them, and anyone who does is likely lying to you. This is because there are far too many variables, such as driving style, vehicle weight, terrain, commuting scenarios/habits, etc.

If this is true, I assume you have a tune for a 2007 4Runner V6? I checked out your FB page but if the pricing is there, I missed it.

Yes, we have tunes for the 2007 4.0L as well.

Flash service is $500, and flash kit bundles are $650+tax/shipping.

Our network map is also linked in the post just above.

    Good evening!

YotaWerx is excited to announce the availability of 5th gen 4Runner 4.0L Stryker calibrations, for the Magnuson TVS1320!

Something that YotaWerx always strives to provide this community on our forced induction calibrations is a significantly high torque benefit, particularly lower in the powerband. While high peak horsepower numbers are exciting, if the majority of your power is focused higher in your powerband where you aren’t accessing it as frequently then the improvement of your drivability benefits is significantly impacted. We always strive to ensure we provide strong torque benefit lower in the powerband.

    MagSC TVS1320

    PUBLISHED_Magnuson_298+299+logo+infobox.jpg

    PUBLISHED_Stryker_318+369+logo+infobox.jpg

The vehicle used on the dyno was a 2022MY 4Runner, with 10-ply 33” tires. The Magnuson calibration yielded 298 WHP and 299 WTQ, and we finished the tuning session at 318 WHP and 369 WTQ for the YotaWerx “Stryker” calibration.

This represents a peak gain of +20WHP and +70WTQ with as much as an estimated ~+60 lb-ft and ~+25WHP at 3000rpm, while Avg HP and Avg TQ demonstrate a significant and consistent benefit as well.

    ---------------

These tunes are now available across the YotaWerx Tuning Network, with a 10% discount available through December 3rd, 2023.

Victory 4x4 everything, Maggy supercharger, Yotawerx tune.
So stoked to see this officially released. I've been running various pre-release versions on our shop '23 Pro and doing some data logging. Power and torque upgrades are always a bonus and that dyno sheet doesn't lie, but the changes to driveability are my favorite part. Better shift logic than even the stock truck in my opinion. But, that torque kick in the pants is hard to ignore too, especially pulling the trailer :D
This tune paired with Magnuson's attention to detail on hardware and fit and finish is it

I can vouch for their magnuson tune. Customer service and help is great from them and the tune really wakes it up and makes the magnuson worth it. Better power delivery and even better efficiency than the original magnuson tune. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a magnuson that wants more power and much better driving feel.

I have been running the Active Duty tune on the 2023 4Runner for about 8 weeks now and all i can say is WOW. The peddle response is now the way it should be from the factory, and my Runner now gets up and goes. If I drive it like a normal person I get a about 2-3 miles per a gallon over stock, however its so hard to do I just enjoy that get up and go. The biggest thing you notice is the constant feeling of power, prior to the flash when you stepped on it and it took a really good mashing after about 2-3 seconds it would feel like the power was running out. With the AD tune the power feels constant until you let off. Over all I am 100% please with the tune.

The VF Tuner device is another story.

I use an HP laptop with windows 11 on it and I have an HP docking station that has built in network card, video etc. When I first installed the VFTuner device and software at my desk I naturally had the Dock hooked up. I plugged the tuner into my laptop directly and all went well. When I was ready to flash I removed the laptop from the Dock and went to car this is where the issues started. I had good internet external power to laptop etc. but the tuner software would no longer load. Says my device was not registered. I eventually figured out if I brought the dock device out and ran a 50foot ethernet cable to my car it all worked fine. So logic says the device attached it self some how to the doc device. How I do not know, Well I suspect it attached to the network card on the Dock because you have to use that network card. I ran some test with another Laptop I have and could never make it work unless I connected that same Dock and network cable. Any PC you use fails then mysteriously stats to work when you add the Dock and network cable.

Let me put this in simple terms in case for the non tech savvy, the dock and ethernet cable stuff is confusing. ..... I replaced my laptop with a new one and the device will not work on the new one, no tricks or adjustments will make it work. I tried the old one and it still works but the old one is gone now. So my device does not work.

So I contacted support. After a few weeks of back and forth I offered to pay to ship the device back to them and see if they could fix it. They offered to send me a new one, that was weeks ago and I still do not have it and now all my emails for an update are ignored.

The take away here is Support is very slow and you 100% get treated like a criminal and you are trying to steal something or get one over on someone. I simply want to be able to service my single vehicle with the tune pack I got. I was told that I could install and use the VFTuner on any computer but only talk to one vehicle with it .... and that is all I want to do .... but this is not true as the device only works if I use the Dock with network cable. I have been very reasonable as I said, I will ship the device back and let them test it but they said they would send me a new one and I am about 3-4 weeks still waiting. I spent a lot of money on this and the device is broken, no one seems to care about my issue Yotawerx or the OVTune person. If they cared they would ask me to return my device and send me a replacement. Which I would do immediatly.

So in closing the tune is great the support of the VFTune device is lacking. If you buy make sure you install the device on a laptop with the wifi connected how you will connect in your car, and plan on keeping that laptop for the life of your vehicle. Now maybe the new device ( Oh I forgot to mention I was sold a discontinued flash device, apparently) the WiFi one does not have these issues. My suggesting would be take your laptop to you car and start from scratch sitting in your vehicle, don't try to set it up any other place that way you get it working right there where your going to flash.

I am sure I am going to get black balled and ignored even worst than I have been for this post but this seems to be the norm for this industry as I read a lot of other posts about issues similar to this when people have real issues with the OVTune device.

Your frustrations and issues sound legit.

I've been geeking for a living for a long time (data, not hardware so excuse any inaccuracies) and offer this explanation . . . which if true is totally their problem but may help you get resolution if you reach someone with a clue at VF.

Sounds like the software is generating a license key using information from the serial connection. As you have already surmised, connecting the laptop the car directly generates a different key value than connecting through the dock (an intermediary in the serial chain) for the serial connection.

    If true:

    1) Their claim of binding a license to a single vehicle is not quite true. They are using a serial connection as a proxy to identify the vehicle. Lame, but may be a technical constraint. It would be better to get a vehicle identifier from the vehicle itself (if using ODBII or similar, probably available).

    2) They should be able to reset your license (or give you a new one) that allows you rebind to the serial connection (direct to car) you'll be using to manage the vehicle.

    3) If they have done #2 and you're still having problems it may have to do with cached values or vestigial config data from the first connection in the application or even at the Windows level (btw, fuck Windows . . . I had to stop using it ten years ago as I had no more hair to pull out . . . no I'm not a Unix neckbeard either). A full uninstall, cleanup, cache clearing, and possible registry editing may be necessary to get you back to a clear playing field.

I have been considering getting a tune for my truck but have been stuck on wanting to have control over the flash rather than paying hundreds of dollars to a tuner to do it one time. So I was leaning toward the self-install but they're all based on VF Tune. Have dealt with enough shitty software implementations to not want to risk my perfectly reliable truck to it. This story has likely cemented my decision on skip it.

A mentor of mine long ago taught me this gem in response to many building/tinkering issues: "Treat it like a sore dick . . . DON'T FUCK WITH IT!"

I hope you are able to get resolution.

    Jason

Sounds like a very poor implementation of controls to prevent reselling the tune, at the cost of customer functionality and satisfaction. That's a very bad way to do business. Established tuners have been doing this in a much more direct and simple way for a long time: Directly tying the self-install device to the vehicle VIN.

Thanks for your reply! Glad to here someone cars enuf to respond. LOL

So this all really happens before the vehicle is connected. When I connect the device and load the software it says .... Checking License ... then after a few seconds it says "VF Tuner License Not Registered!". Some notes, I have the device connected to the USB port on the laptop. If I plug in the Dock with no network cable .... I'm on wifi with Device plugged into laptop USB port and still get same error. If I plug in the network cable to the Dock, Device still connected to laptop USB port .... it starts working. Software loads up and all is good to go. I have even tried to unplug from just the Dock and go to car and it will not work, leave software running.

My theory ... the device is registered by the MAC address of the network card online and any connection that is not this MAC address and the device serial shows as not licensed. However I have been told this is not the case that I can move the device from one PC\Laptop to another with no issue.

But in simplest form if you just forget about the dock and say I got a new laptop, on new laptop I get the error above and the software will not work. On the old laptop it works.

The feeling I get when interacting with support is I am trying to steal something, or use this on more than one vehicle. Yet they OV Tuner guy knows that my tune files are locked to my VIN and I have never asked about another vehicle VIN ... again I just get treated like I'm a thief by default. I just want this to work on my new laptop so I can try the other tunes I got with my pack ... the WW and the blackhawk one.

I just want this to work, I will mail the device back to OV Tune or Yotawerx and let them test it .. if it work then I guess I'm wrong and they can send it back but My guess is it will not work. I have tried it on 2 other laptops total of 4 laptops and it only works on the original laptop.

Hell they do that too in the software, the tune file is VIN locked ... the license credits in the software are VIN locked .. and it seems to me the Device is Locked to a single laptop.

I have worked as an IT professional for 30 years in the infrastructure area, for the last 18 years in manufacturing where they user similar locking techniques but they all only use one method and the support will help you unlock it and move it if needed with out issue because you paid for it and are authorized to use it on X number of systems. They also realize you get new PCs and upgrade hardware.

Please do not say that we at YotaWerx do not care. We very much do, and as communicated previously over email we are not in a position to be able to assist you as we are resellers/distributors of VFTuner flash kits and do not have the means to make the kinds of corrections that you are needing. VFTuner does not enable us to assist with the level of support that you require.

It is extremely unfortunate that they could not or would not help you, but we are completely powerless to do what they cannot or will not do for you.

What is odd about this situation, and what I believe I communicated in one of the initial replies to you via email when this was first brought to our attention, is that VFTuner has been marketing the VFTuner flash kits as a device that can be installed and used across multiple devices without issue. I myself have VF installed on multiple PCs, as does my business partner and the tuners on our development team.

This was supposed to not be a possible issue in the first place. I know that this does not provide resolution however.

initially VF was doing this, up to 3 installs/systems. When they moved to tying the serial number on the tactrix obd device to the user license, they removed the limit on number of installs. Or so they announced...idk why this would change...

Ok,I will retract that statement about Yotawerx. I am very frustrated about this situation as I spent quite a bit of money with Yotawerx, I realize your a resellers/distributor of the product but you should have some ability as such to leverage a replacement for my unit or at least a return and test then replacement of the unit if needed. If not them maybe a clear warning about the VF Tuner device and how if it breaks of you have any issues your only recourse will be to toss it and buy a new one .... because unless something changes that is my option if I ever want to use my tune pack again.

Again sorry, I am just frustrated.

For everyone Yotawerx does respond to emails nearly immediately in most cases ( maybe a few hours tops) and the team has a great tune pack. I just wish they would find another device out there to program with that is supported better for customers.

Last to be clear I would not have said a single thing about the VF Tuner here if the support had kept me updated but they have stopped talking to me. I was told 4-5 weeks ago the device will be replaced, I have ask 3 times for an update and was told about 3 weeks ago it was being shipped in the following week. I still have nothing and no response to last 2 emails. I would have accepted an email that said we are overloaded with shipping please bear with us, anything and I would have waited. Heck ... even we are still working on it ... would work.

Please email us at YotaWerx sir; I'd like to discuss some further options with you. I know it's been several weeks since this originally happened but I was actually thinking about this situation not too long ago as it potentially impacts other customers.

Replying to our existing email thread is fine.

trd pro rims, DT headers, URD ypipe, URD exhaust, VF tuner, YotaWerx tune
Yotawerx reviews, from a customer, that has installed their tunes on not one, not two, not three but 4 trucks.......

Yotawerx is a joy to work with, and the VF tuning product is a great feat of engineering. I intially purchased a self tune kit from YW for my 08 v8 4runner, in the spring, got it installed and really liked it, Marc was most helpful, and tweaked it a touch for me.

I upgraded my VF license to a full, and was able to get a better feel for whats involved, and what is possible. Note: tuning isn't so easy!

The 08 is currently running the Blackhawk LTH tune,(long tube header). This is the 3rd YW or 4th YW tune I have put in the truck, they are all very good. I have run the truck hard, towing a 8,000 lb 24 foot trailer, and run it down the 1/4 mile at the race track I think about 50 runs this year, since it got the headers. Best time was a 15.03 at 91 mph. 87 gas The tune helps in a quite a few areas, increased red line, ability to increase power safely with a leaner air fuel, and gets rid of the limp mode for the secondary air pump(this is a VF feature)

This truck had a sprint booster on it(may reinstall for testing) but the tune also improves throttle response.

I liked it so much I got a tune pack for my kids 2016 trd pro runner(she greatly liked the throttle response as that truck has e-rated tires, another one for my sons 2005 v8 4runner which is lifted, shorty headers, dt y pipe, urd exhaust, cooper tall skinnys, roof rack etc, woke it up, and finally I got a tune for my 2015 trd pro taco, which has greatly enjoyed its tune, and has towed that same 24 foot trailer over 5,000 miles this year, and if you keep the rpms down in sweet spot, you can get close to 12 MPG while towing it, run it hard, and your going to see 9-10, the 08 v8 will get a touch better.

All of these products are excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to have them put on my parents rides, if they had a runner or taco, or tundra....Self install is certainly not for everyone though, so I wouldn't go there for my parents! I'd have it installed by one of the YW installers. All the trucks are running the AD versions and only see 87 octane. Hope this is helpful, final note: I've been down the dragstrip with the 08 v8 over 1,000 times, and the best et's require testing, stock sized tires, and the full time 4 wheel drive that is the v8 4runner.
