Anyone else get the burning rubber smell from the rear wheelwells? At first I figured it was some sort of coating burning off the exhaust, but now with about 2000 miles I am starting to doubt that.

I researched a bit and I cannot find an concensous on the cause, but it seems to be a common issue. Most commonly people seem to think it is the muffler. Can anyone with an aftermarket exhaust speak to whether or not that fixed the issue?

    Thanks for any input.

    Is plasti-dip a mod?!
No burning rubber smell here. It took a couple hundred miles for the cats to break in, they were a little stinky at first. Maybe crawl up under it and see if an exhaust hangar is broken and the rubber hangar thingy is melted? I just fluid filmed my runner so I have a different kind of stink going on right now, lol.

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
I had some weird smells for the first maybe up to 1,000 miles as everything broke in but nothing past that point. I have had in the past a plastic bag get caught underneath and caused a smell, maybe check that. :notsure:

I also had this smell and I read about this before I purchased my 2016 SR5. when drive on hywy speed then stopped I would smell a rubber burn smell..crawled under and I felt that the rubber exhaust supports were up on the pipe /muffler. so I moved these away from the hot parts. problem reduced a lot and now no smell.

the other item I recommend is put an extension on the tail pipe as IMO too short could damage the rear plastic bumper / paint from heat and exhaust .

I thought about the rubber exhaust hangers as well, but they did not look like they were burning at all to me. My truck is at the dealership right now and I asked them to take a look at it. I will post back if they find anything.
