Look closer at the mirror and you will see what it says….

Fortunately the mirror is at an angle, instead of viewing head-on.

I've been experiencing a flex rub, only sometimes turning hard up a ramp left or right. The wife busts my balls about it. Investigation step one, off with the fender mount valance caps! Already trimmed them once but let's see what happens. Next is Dremel cutting red dotted line bottom of fender.

Putting multiple reminders on your vehicle to tell you what model or brand it is is a bit much. Like do you need that many? Just be flamboyant if you need that. Go big. Flames or truck balls. Something.

Well, as I said earlier, we went on a road trip yesterday. While we were out I went to check something on the GPS and it had stopped "working"! It would light up and would give is instruction to previously entered destinations but would not let us enter new ones. I was thinking about just replacing it with a Garmin 65. Got one for the wife's RAV4 and I really like it and I understand the factory ones are very expensive to work on and nobody seems to know what they are doing anyway. You basically have to replace it for a couple of thousand! So I was shopping on the Garmin mounts. I had picked one out and I went out to check out the 4Runner dash, power sources, etc (You never know what you have until you need it. Well, it's working "OK" now! (Although I REALLY like the features on the Garmin!)

I noticed last week that the garnish on the lift gate was loose on the left loose after opening it. So today I fixed it. Popped off the rear hatch interior panel trim, unscrewed a few screws, unclipped a few connectors, popped a couple clips off, peeled back the weather liner piece, carefully backed off the loose nut (10mm), applied blue loctite it, then reinstalled it. Went on to remove all the other 10mm nuts while I was in there one at a time. Added blue loctite to them and reinstalled. A few others had loosened up too. Put everything back together in reverse order. All is well.

Fender mount valance cap removal did not stop the noise I'm assuming is rubbing. There's no evidence of pinch weld or body mount rub.
Tie rods were replaced this spring, and balljoints assessed 6 months to live.
I gotta YouTube a video of the noise caught real time. But until then, before I'm able to jack it up, anyone think worn SPC balljoint socket can make loud noise only when turning fast left and right up a ramp ?

In that turn, are you getting some joint motion that might bring a different part of that ball and socket into play? If so, that's a definite maybe.

Finally got everything for the remaining parts for the gf's bday present. I rebuilt her CV's and installed the ECGS bushing as one present (bought the bushing) and the second part was getting rid of the crummy, not working reverse LED pods and replacing them with some side-throwing LED pods that were a bit more slim:

Also, the push buttons that the PO put in this rig were garbage. They didn't stay locked into place at all. You'd have to hold them in for the accessory to work and they wouldn't "catch" like a momentary switch should. Here's the spread of the buttons that were in there:

    upload_2023-6-25_13-11-44.png

Now, I was happy to see that when I got behind there, the wiring was actually clean, how I would wire things to make it look OEM. The only thing the PO didn't do was wire the lower "description" part of the button to come on with the headlights. She wanted this feature.

The pink with the yellow tracers wrapped around the other wiring is the 12v input to the switches from the headlight power or something similar.

I opted to tap cleanly into the OEM defrost plug to the left. I probed for 12V when the headlight switch was on and found the green wire was the one I needed (2016). I daisy chained a 12V waterproof connection to the 3x pink/yellow tracer wires to complete the wiring. It was nice I didn't have to start from scratch, but I had pre-wired the harnesses from the switches I purchased just in case.

Popped the old switches out and the new ones in. The new switches I purchased from AOB after doing some research. They all functioned as should when installed into the factory spots without modification to the trim. Obviously with nothing turned on:

Headlight/running lights on (it's daylight so the light color doesn't really do any justice at this point):

With the respective accessories turned on with headlight/running lights:

Happy with how everything turned out and she'll be stoked to have some functional switches for everything now.

    That all looks good too!
I think the original switches were similar to that post, same deeper color blue. The AOB switches are a color match to the OEM ones which is nice. Something about clean wiring and waterproof plugs just makes me happy

Didn't do anything, per se, but plotted a bunch of fossil digging sites onto my PNW map for the future!

    Lots…
Great job! Felt the same way. Not easy but worth it. Thanks for being honest. Tired of “this was simple” posts that are misleading.
