I know this sounds juvenile but the Toyota App invites us to give our 4 Runners a nickname. My Lunar Rock ORP will be driven off road a lot during hunting season. My wife likes the color as it appears to be cement in some light, green in some light and sometimes light blue. She and I discussed it and came up with “Moon Buggy”. Moon for the Lunar Rock color and Buggy because it will go anywhere. So when I click on the Toyota App the name is right there. I don’t use the App that much but now my wife will ask me “are we taking the Moon Buggy”. Ok guys, what are the nicknames for your 4 Runner?

Mr. Toad. As in Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. But really I’m the only one in the house to use the nickname. Perhaps it’s because my kids are grown now, but it just hasn’t caught on.

    It's nickname is JTEBU5JR1L5831100

Otherwise we just refer to it as the toyota. The rest of the cars we refer to them with their model names because we have multiple of the same makes at any given time

Anybody who thinks it's a wagon has clearly never driven one (or even tried to get into one). That's almost as bad as calling it an SUV. Is it just a Highlander that corners poorly and gets terrible mileage?

Haha. The term SUV was practically invented for the 4Runner. The cadre of mainly front wheel drive imposters are crossovers.

Yeah, it's capable of actual Sport and real Utility, so the designation applies semantically. However, the proliferation of crossovers has stretched the meaning thin. When I was searching for a new vehicle, the recommended "comparables" were way off. It seemed like anything with a hatchback but not sliding rear doors was an SUV.

That’s very cool. If nothing else it invites someone to ask what it means.
