Puddle lights- foot lights?

Just got my ORP April 6 and I’m still finding stuff I didn’t know. I unlocked my 4 Runner in my dark garage (after dark) and saw a light come on on the bottom side of driver side view mirror. I walked to passenger side and same thing. I googled it and they were called “puddle lights” in the first article. The owners manual calls them “foot lights”. Pretty cool. The map and dome lights also come on when unlocking if they are not in “off” position. All go off after a time delay of about 15 seconds. As an aside I also noticed the rear seats recline. Very cool and didn’t know about that until I stumbled upon it. I have never had a vehicle this nice. With the heated seats, heated steering wheel, heating element in windshield under wiper blades (unfreeze blades in winter), side view mirror defrosters, and moon roof it’s just a very well equipped vehicle. I noticed in addition to the rear window defroster, the cargo area side windows are defrosted also. With the power outlet in the cargo area and trailer hitch wiring, it must have a high capacity alternator. In summary I keep finding new features including all the TSS stuff. I am very impressed.

 

What you are seeing on the cargo area side windows is not defrosters. That is your AM / FM radio antennas.

 

There’s a light at the bottom of each door and the limited has footwell lights.

 

2Toys, I thought the radio antennas were contained in the shark fin on the rear of roof? Thanks for letting me know. At first glance the rear window defroster wires look the same as those on the side glass around cargo area.

 

I love the puddle lights, mine come on when I’m approaching the door…. I also thought those were defrosters in the rear cargo side windows. Love this forum…I find stuff out every day.

 

MooreKen, I discovered my puddle lights pressing the unlock button on key fob 20 feet away. I didn’t know they come on approaching door until reading your post. After reading your post I walked up to vehicle with key in pocket and they came on, along with dome and map lights. So like you said, I also find new stuff out every day.

I do appreciate the number of features that this 4Runner includes.

I still randomly flip open the owners manual to see if I can find any additional items previously not aware of.

 

The shark fin is for XM radio, and may also be the source for GPS position for Navigation.
