Studs for engine cover slipping

I didn’t see this asked elsewhere in the forums so I apologize if this is repeated. I am trying to install a J&L OSC on my wife’s 2022 4Runner and went to remove the stud in the intake plenum so that I could hang the can’s support bracket but the stud won’t come out. It appears that whatever thread insert was molded into the intake plenum is slipping and spinning so the stud just spins. The other stud for the engine cover can be removed without problem.

Have any of you run into this? And how have you fixed it? I’m trying to avoid destroying the intake plenum but I’m open to any suggestions.

 

I installed mine no problem with that front mount. Maybe you can pry the stud up as you spin it out of the plenum. The only issue I has was trying to get the new pvc hose on the plastic nip. It won't go all the way up no matter how much oil or grease I used. The nip tapers out as it goes up and the new hose isn't as wide as the original.

 

I think inside the driver side fender, close to brake master, was the favorite place for it. ??

 

I think that support alone is not enough for Oil Catch Can especially when near full. I removed that stud (not using original engine cover) and replaced with M6 bolt. Note I've another custom bracket from MAF support holding CF plate for the can.
