    So I closed my center console this weekend and the latch that holds it done broke. Anybody have this happen? If so, is there a diy option or do I have to replace the entire thing?

    I can help, I did same thing twice lol

    I'm hard on stuff. OEM latch broke after 6 years. The Amazon replacement broke in 6 days, like butter.

    Bypass it all together was my best solution, really happy I did. Don't forget last step, to drink a beer for your troubles

    So you can remove the broken plastic latch piece with two screws I think. After cutting the end of the tensioned lid spring off where it's sitting in the notch, it's essentially disengaged. Now you open the lid manually and it will stay open, but the weight will help it slam closed easily when you're ready to close it.

    The hook is what breaks on OEM and Amazon replacements. I felt like I didn't even do anything and the Amazon replacement had broken. I don't remember how much OEM costs, but likely not worth it. My condole lid is arguably better now then before mod
