The manual is why I don’t have a 2017 runner, the wife finally convinced me that we wanted a runner more than the manual trans.

Yeah, that makes sense. When we bought our 2017 Taco I was a family of four, with two dogs. Now I'm a family of one, with one dog. Haha. I don't need the extra cargo space of the Taco anymore, and the 4Runner is a much more comfortable platform for sleeping in now that it's just me and the pup. That was my biggest reason for switching, but the trade-in value of the Taco was impressive, and I'm very happy with the 4Runner. I do hate the light grey ceiling fabric, it seems very dated, but I'm slowly getting more used to it.

As I approach 10k miles, I thought Id list where the bulk of the miles came from this year, as most of them came from 3 big trips, or so I thought.
1st-Southern Maine to Montage Mountain for Peach Music Festival, 385 miles one way, so 770 miles
2nd Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Oak Hill NY, 280 miles one way, so 560 Miles
3rd New Orleans, LA 1660 miles one way, so 3,320 miles.
4th, three trips to Moosehead Lake, about 200 miles one way so about 1200 miles.
5th, Greensky Bluegrass in New Haven Connecticut, about 225 miles one way, so 450 miles.

So about 1/2 my miles this year were trip related and basically highway miles, at almost 6350 miles. So about 3.5k miles are short local trips.

Now I need to decide if I am willing to let the dealership change the oil or wait it out till spring. I did it myself at 5k, but not sure I will get it do during the winter months.

Interesting read. My '23 ORP should be showing up at Central Maine this month. I will be interested to see how they treat me on my trade...

Purchase experience was easy and good, I just know I should have gotten a bit more, but MSRP and no add ons.

Trip report- under construction picts and more write to come

The end of February we took the runner to Florida to try out the x cover RTT.

Left Southern Maine Friday evening, drove to PA and slept at a rest stop for a few hours, then hauled to Asheville NC for a night. Sunday we stayed in Opelika, Alabama. Monday we went down to Mobile and then headed east into Florida across the top of Mobile bay.

First night in the iKamper X=cover, at Big Lagoon State Park in Pensacola.

With the liner in the tent and us in the Teton Sports Celsius Mammoth 0 degree Double Bag, we were plenty warm.

We woke up with little puddles of water on the sleeping bag, we know we can sleep in colder temps. One of the reasons we decided Florida, we wanted to be able to hang outside with a fire and wanted to make sure it wasn’t too cold on the first outing. The liner will extend our possible camping into the fall for sure and winter Northern Lights searching.

Long day drive across Florida to get to Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park. Setup and take down fairly easy, however the liner does make it a little more work. There is a bit of stuff the tent in, but I’m thinking as I get more practice, this will get easier.

    IMG_2119.jpg IMG_2122.jpg IMG_2120.jpg

The 2nd night we left some of the liner around the windows unzipped, still had some little puddles of condensation on the bag in the morning.

We didn’t have any more reservations as we didn’t know where we would end up.
So from here we went to Blue Springs state park to see the Manatee. Wicked cool and worth the effort.

Being less than an hour from Daytona Beach, we decided to stay a night.

    IMG_2259.jpg

We hit it between the 500 and bike week, it was dead, just like we like no lines no waiting and cheap hotel rates. I did look for places to camp, but didn’t have any luck and what I might have been able to do was almost as much as a hotel, so no more tent for now.
