We've been keeping this under wraps for some time now, but today we are excited to announce that YotaWerx Tuning has completed a merger and acquisition of Nexus Tuning Group, with Nexus Tuning developers and networked partners coming onboard with YotaWerx Tuning!

This enables YotaWerx to continue to bring the community high quality tuning solutions while working on several projects at once rather than keeping them on the shelf for extended periods of time, and with several more locations available in-network, the availability of local support is that much more complete and easily accessible.

Today (23 Mar 2023) is the official date of the merger. Please be patient with us while we work hard to finish transitioning Nexus Tuning Group content and processes into YotaWerx Tuning. Services available will not be interrupted nor unavailable.

We appreciate the community's enthusiastic support. More big things to come this year, stay TUNED!

Does or is YotaWerx have any plans for 4th Gen 4.0L V6 Engines? Mine also has the URD MAF Sensor Calibrator.
I've been searching for a reputable company that has a Tune that I can run on my daily driver to add a little spunk and or MPG improvement since installing by Steel bumper and 33" tires. I'd need to still pass CA emissions or be able to be flashed back before the bi-annual smog testing.

    Thanks in advance! ;-)

We anticipate releasing tuning support for the 4T4R 4.0L very soon. I'll PM you.

Using VFTuner, you could flash to stock at your convenience. The software's install directory contains all supported stock tune files.

Hello 4Runner friends. I am a new member to the group living out in Colorado. I would like to take this opportunity to share my recent experience with the YodaWerx tune on my 4Runner. As we all know, this 4.0L is no powerhouse especially with its 5 gears. I live at high altitude up in the mountains and this vehicle with the factory tune struggled going over mountain passes, shifting gears sometimes erratically and over revving. The driving experience simply wasn’t what I expected nor what I required. Short of spending 10k plus on a Magnuson supercharger, I decided to tune the vehicle. After researching, I quickly concluded that YodaWerx offered the most dialed in tune on the market. I elected the 91 octane (No 93 octane available in my region) Weekend Warrior tune over the Active Duty given the more relaxed vs Active Duty but still more aggressive vs stock throttle response. My 2020 Tundra TRD Pro had a twitchy throttle from the factory and I didn’t want to repeat that experience. I also felt the 20+ foot pounds torque increase over stock would be just enough to make a real difference in drivability, especially up in the mountains. The improvement was immediately noticeable after flashing. Driving around town the vehicle felt more commanding, had drastically better throttle response and improved (smoother and more timely) shifting characteristics. The power increase (midrange especially) was most noticeable when I took the vehicle over Red Mountain pass (11,000 ft +) between Ouray and Durango, CO. I quickly found that I had the power available to maintain the speed of my choice going up steep grades and my 4Runner could now properly and effectively operate in my environment up here. On the steepest grades, I’ve found that combining the YodaWerx tune with the factory Sport overlay provides just enough grunt to maintain highway speeds on the steepest grades which is all I ever wanted and YodaWerx sure delivered. Now I’m disappointed that I didn’t use YodaWerx for the tuning on my 22 Tacoma TRD Pro manual. Having compared a competitor’s tune in my Tacoma and then the YodaWerx in my 4Runner back to back, the more defined and dialed in characteristic of the YodaWerx product became apparent. Plus, YodaWerx has a tune available for the Magnuson guys to boot! Anyway, just the experience of a proud 4Runner owner fellas. Looking forward to getting acquainted with the community this summer. Cheers

@Nubes I have actually used both the OTT/Overland Torque and KDMAX Pro XT Tunes on my Taco and currently the OTT/Overland Torque is on it. I found the KDMAX made more peak power but the OTT/Overland Torque makes more low end to mid range power where this truck needs it most. Both are great tunes in my opinion. If I had it all to do over again, I would go straight to the YodaWerx tune and call it a day however.

I appreciate the info, it's exactly what I was looking for as I did not know which tune to go with but was leaning more to OTT initially(They state that with the low end torque improvements it helps with Adaptive Cruise Control). I will be looking at YotaWerx now after your feedback. My biggest complaint with the 4R after coming from a 2nd gen Tacoma is the downshifting while on cruise control when going up mild inclines on the highway where the Taco had no issues. I'm not looking for more power, just a better driving experience. Thanks!

Hello, I was reading about this upgrade. We have a 2023 4Runner TRD Off Road and yes it lacks power as well. I purchased the Pedal Commander and it helps but would like to have our 4runner tuned to add more power and performance. Is it possible to get this in Chicago or is Colorado the only place? Look forward to your response.

    Good morning.

Here's our network map. We have a networked tuner a bit south of you in Bloomington.

    https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/e...U4wo_Y&ll=14.690283362994958,-97.72491065&z=3

We also distribute our tunes bundled with flash kits if that option is something you'd be interested in.

Thank you for the information. I will reach out to MCB Auto Tech and or have the kit sent to me. I forgot to ask if this tune would void the warranty?

Any tune would void the warranty. Even if you were to remove it before taking it to the shop, it would be annotated in the BCM and is not removable from it's memory.

For what it's worth, the owner of VFTuner said years ago that flashing the ECM resulted in the same marker that comes up when the battery is disconnected for an extended period of time. Can't remember where I saw it, but it stuck. If inaccurate, that's unfortunate.

Regardless, the tune would change the CVN, which while easy enough to identify isn't necessarily something the dealer will care enough about checking unless they're on the hook for some big money.

I've heard of several dealerships, including the ones local to me, that even refer customers for tuning solutions.

So, yes, short answer, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it to be a looming dark cloud of doom for dealer support either.

Unfortunately not. The 2003-04 4.7L is a K-line protocol ECM. We do have access and cpuld put together something for it, but the current method available is not financially feasible for customers. Would be unreasonably expensive and so we haven't released anything yet.

Dyno info from October 2021 on page 1

We do not compare ourselves to competitors. It's unprofessional and creates unnecessary drama that we do not engage in or encourage from our networked partners.

If tuners are just taking an OVTune base tune and barely touching it up and calling it their own for example, then that's certainly plausible. I cannot say what has been done by the competition.

YotaWerx tests thoroughly, and we own and drive the vehicles and tunes that we develop across the dev team.

Unfortunately, it's true that ultimately the various tuning companies are going to list benefits that sound familiar, and the differences (unless you try multiple tunes) are going to be more apparent in customer service, support prior to, through, and after the flash process, professionalism and conduct, and acknowledgement of a thorough testing and revision process that includes tunes that are daily driven, not to mention an extensive network including partners who would not risk their business reputations on snake oil.

We do routinely switch customers over to YotaWerx from other competitors, and a couple have posted their thoughts here and there across various platforms.

Pretty much. It's why we've been looking at updating it, as it's due for a refresh regardless of its continued popularity. The current (update in testing) stuff is really nice and I'm looking forward to finishing it up.

@mZiggy What is the state of a 2009 V6 4Runner tune? I own an 09 Trail Edition with the rear locking diff. They're very rare and I wanted to know if that should matter at all for the tune package?

Sorry for the delay, we're out at Texas Overland Festival for the weekend and haven't had much opportunity for normal communications.

2009 4.0L tuning is supported and available throughout the network and via us with our flash kit bundles.

The presence of a locker won't affect the tune unless for some reason they have some obscure and unknown ECU ID (highly highly unlikely)

Are there benefits to buying the flash kit bundle? How often would the tunes be updated and if so would those be available if I bought the bundle?
