    Perfect as is.
So I finally decided to get this thing setup to work with my Iphone. There are no videos on this or any decent instructions. The 4Runner camera it turns out is completely different than all other Toyota vehicle integrated cameras. My question is do I need the toyota wifi service for this? I tried a few networks that popped up but wouldn't work. The Name for this network no one seems to know? Thanks for any help.

The password it turns out is on the back of the dashcam manual. Not the default 1234567890 on all other toyotas cameras.

    None…..Yet.
Have you had any luck with this? Mine is doing the exact thing. The dealer replaced the cam and it hasn’t corrected anything.

GM - I recently got a new TRD Pro - The manual that cam with it for the dashcam worked for me. Here are some notes that maybe help:
    1. The wifi is just the camera wifi. It took a good few minutes for my iPhone to actually see the dashcam wifi
    2. There are two iPhone apps for the dashcam - you want the Toyota Dashcam Viewer NOT the Integrated version
    3. WiFi password is actually on the back of the dashcam itself and is alpha numeric. I did also notice that it seemed to be part of the actual wifi name too....CRAZY!!!

Install that app first> then go to 4Runner, start it and let it run> go to wifi settings on phone and connect to the dashcam wifi, it starts with DIRECT-DR> once connected go back to the app and follow the prompts it should connect and should be able to see all videos it has been recording. Thru the app you can change the settings and all that. I changed the wifi password thru the app and then tried to setup my wifes phone but the new password that I set didn't work. So today I am going to install the software on my PC and reformat the card and change settings there and see if I can get it to work for me again.

    Good luck!!

I have the "OE" Toyota dash cam (port installed) - the one with no WiFi button. The manual has a place where there WAS a sticker with the password. I've tried 1234567890. I talked with a service writer at a Toyota dealer who said I need to have the camera wiped/reset - that it's likely still registered to the original owner.

Anyone gone through this? Is it better to go to the dealership or try Toyota customer care? Thx

    So....not sure this will help.....
I just got my 4Runner a week ago and was able to connect to the camera and reset the wifi password. When I tried the new password on my wifes phone it didn't work. So I tried to connect to my phone and was locked out. So after reading the vague instructions I figured out I had to reset the SD card. Here is what you have to do to do that:

    1. Pull the sd card out of the dashcam
    2. Google Toyota dashcam software - you may have to download both to see which one workd for your dashcam - Mine was Canada's version called DashCam Viewer (I live in the US)
    3. Optional step - Your SD card may need to be reformated or maybe you don't have a SD card and need to go buy one. 8gb card came with mine but I bought a 64Gb for the extra space. The card needs to be formated in Fat32. New operating systems can not do that, so I had to download a free version of a hard drive partition software to get the right format on the SD card. The card will not work if it's not Fat32. You may also need to buy something that you can plug the SD card into. The 64GB sd Card was $15 and the reader another $15 from Best Buy
    4. Once you have the card formatted correctly, you should be able to use the Toyota software to reset the dashcam setting back to default. This basically put a file on the SD card so the Dash Cam can boot up and work.
    5. I have to connect to my dashcam via a wifi it puts out. It takes my iPhone a good minute or two to see the dashcam wifi. As mentioned in my previous post the wifi may start with Direct DI and then the last portion of the wifi name should be the password for the wifi or at least mine was. Password example for mine was alpha numeric so something like ABC000123

    Hope this helps.

This is the most unToyota thing Toyota has ever done. Damn.

But wow. Thanks (!) for all of ^that^. I may take another shot at trying to connect… oof.
    Thanks again!
