@MountainMan For some folks, less is more. I know there is functionality to all the armor, and maybe its just that my needs dont require them all, but in the not-stock but not-hauling-400lbs-of-steel-around range is where it's at!

I say that scar wears well.

 

Arizona in the Superstition mountains. I only had her a week or so.

 

Not really scenic, but a somewhat remote area on the Chesapeake Bay. The roads cuts through a salt marsh and ends at a nature preservation/beach.

I sprayed out black so they disappear from the high clearance cut.

We sprayed them black. Also with a heat gun melted the black plastic behind so it could be bent.
I love the look of it.

Ahh I see now, I cut my fender liner straight across, goodbye, and sprayed the pink reservoir black.
So you didn't cut off the two lower/outer bumper mounts (10mm bolt)? I don't see em. You can see one pertruding above tire

 

Last one looks like pickleweed (?).

It’s a red beard sponge. They’re common on the main part of the Bay.

 

Did you know that John Steinbeck and "Doc" Ricketts (Doc from Cannery Row) did a definitive study on sponges and determined that the sponges and corals of the Gulf of California were more closely related to those in the Gulf of Mexico than those in the Pacific? Just some trivia from my undergrad work in Marine Biology.

Lived in Belmont Shores section of Long Beach, CA. One block from the Pacific. Had to oil our firearms weekly to prevent rust!

With an environmental science degree heavily weighted toward geology, I would love to know the reason for this

 

Cladal relationships and taxidermic features. One of my grad committee was a Professor emeritus and had actually done his undergrad and grad work before Continental Drift was accepted (University of Illinois, University of Chicago, and the Field Museum) and he remembered being belittled for stating he believed in Continental Drift (that's how old he was!). He thought it was a very interesting and sound paper (His doctoral was in malcopaleontology (Bivalves).

I can't find a copy of the original paper but these list references to the 1940 Steinbeck and Ricketts expedition throughout Baja and the Sea of Cortez. The "Log of the Sea of Cortez" (a less scientific recount of the 1940 expedition) is interesting and humorous, especially when the Mexicans (which had German/Nazi sympathies) arrested them for spying.

Finally got her outside on some dirt. Took the kayaks out to the lake today!

 

13,803ft at the top of Mauna Kea in Hawai’i.

 

Decided to head up towards Mowich lake yesterday, we knew the road was closed before the lake but wanted to see how far we could get before it got too sketchy (for going solo). First time we were up in this area and plan to check it out again in the summer. And yes, we did also encounter a Prius trying to navigate this same road at a slightly lower elevation...

 

Took a drive down to Plum Island, MA to enjoy the sun and warmer spring New England weather
