The answer is get a good gauge and confirm, just curious if everyone's stock Dunlops came ballooned up to 55psi or I just had an idiot service tech at delivery? Didnt notice until I got home and was messing around with the dash views and app, saw 55 at all 4 corners. Door says 32 and the max on the tire says 51.

Holy crap. That's way too high.

The dealership gives your truck back with 36Psi.

    I ride at about 38.

I've heard that they ship with the tires overinflated to prevent flat spots. The dealership should have lowered them to 32, but it seems like they forget sometimes.

This happens frequently with alignment shops and tech. They inflate close to max for road testing and are supposed to reduce the air pressure, once the alignment has been completed. Most of these techs have bad/lazy habits and forget to do it.

Wish there is a Pre Delivery Service checklist that dealerships have to share with the members.

The tires are over filled for secure transport. The dealer is supposed to deflate to proper pressure before delivery to customer.

Its one of those things that can be missed by the dealer, but shouldn't be.

Back in my technician days with Infiniti, The customer received a copy of the PDI that was performed.

Tires are the first thing that typically get missed these days. Mine was overfilled at delivery.

I received the PDI form with both my 2016 and 2020 4Runner. Too bad they just checked the boxes and didn't actually do everything.

    Yes.

Good news is, you probably got great mpg numbers up until the time you noticed. Bad news? The fuel savings are offset by the need to buy replacement tires much sooner. And maybe have a filling or two replaced by your dentist.

Dropped off my second key from the Taco today and a mgr had the nerve to ask me about the tpms light in my old truck.

Me: Yeah its 10 years old, pretty sure one or more are dead.
Mgr: Those are like $230 each.
Me: Glad I dont own that one anymore. And glad the 4Runners tpms work because your service dept gave it to me 20lbs over in all 4. Have a good one.

We have a PDI checklist received when we picked up our 2020, I'm thinking they checked off things without doing the actual inspection.

I bought a new 2023 4runner. I did not receive a pre-delivery checklist. I did not know there was such a thing. At 1,300 miles I remembered to check tire pressure. The tires were suppose to be 32psi, they were actually 50psi! My concern is what else did they not do? There are flood/body/frame plugs that they are suppose to insert. They should be in the glove compartment in a plastic bag, labelled important. I don't know how many or exactly where they go, but I do know that by not installing them, the body and frame will rust much faster. I am now worried that when I take my 4runner in for regular maintenance will they forget to do things like oil change or rotate tires.

At 1,300 miles you remembered to check? LOL. Stiff ride but probably good mpgs. I went over my vehicle before I left the dealer parking lot. I open the hood, looked at paint for scratches, looked at seat material for holes or rips, checked spare tire was actually there, and made sure all my tpms sensors were working. The psi was closer to 40, but initially didn’t care because in 3 days I was replacing the tires.

Always review your new car on the dealer lot with skepticism. I know it’s an emotionally exciting time, but try and be sure you are not being ripped off. I know of major damage to new vehicles before pick up day, and they fix it and pass it off as if nothing happened. Folks have driven off without realizing the spare that comes with the vehicle (if it has one) isn’t there. Some dealers say it was there when owner left, so they owner is out of luck. Be proactive and your own advocate, you have to protect yourself. This is a big purchase, reduce your risk by finding any existing issues before you drive off. Leave the kids at home to spend quality time confirming that you are safe to do so. I used to work for dealerships, I remember some of the old cover up tricks the business uses.

    Man, now I feel guilty.

Walked around my newly purchased 4R once, jumped in and went over some stuff with the salesman to familiarize myself and drove away. Took 5min.
