After going back and forth on my opitons I decided and pulled the trigger on this setup. Love the look and feel. Can't wait to add the lift. I also bought a fresh TRD OR wheel to put in the spare spot with another TPMS sensor so in event I need it out on the trail I'll have full sized capable spare and can do 5 wheel rotations to extend tire life. If anyone is looking DT tire matched Walmart's current price of $237. Not a bad price for a 33" E rated tire that alot of people seem to love.

Next up is the Wescott lift and DOM/TIG sliders.

I looked at those Falkens at Town Fair Tire. They are popular. yokohama had a buy 3 get 1 free deal in November. ...so went with them instead.

I plan to spend a great deal of time aired down while off road. I wanted the extra piece of mind of the tougher tire carcass.

It's definately a little more firm, but nothing crazy. I can feel tiny bumps in the road a bit more but again, not jarring or enough to ruin the ride. I have no regrets so far and look foward to putting them to use off road.

If possible be in the car with someone having Load E tires. Some may like it, some may don't. I lost lot of money selling Load E tires to softer tires.

Agreed. I’d never run them on a vehicle that will live on pavement but for the terrain I plan to go on the small increase in stiffness to the ride is worth it for extra toughness of the tire. There’s always a compromise.

You experience any rubbing at the stock ride height? I have a 21 ORP and I'm looking at these tires also.

There's a small amount of rubbing on the front bumper on the drivers side while in reverse...tiny amount. I'm about to install a lift and get it aligned so that should be taken care of shortly. If minor trimming is needed (like on the Pro's) so be it.

So that tire should fit ok on a stock 2021 Pro with the stock Pro rims? Definitely the set up I am interested in.

This tire wheel combo is what I’m going with on my “21” ORP, I have the lift on, just haven’t been able to get the tires installed yet. I am just hoping that my tires don’t rub on the remote reservoir. There is talk that they might! So far no rub on the stock tires.

II would hate to do wheel spacers, because I’m sure I would be doing some trimming, and they will poke further than I want. Or possibilities of different rims if tires rub reservoirs, but I believe this 7.5” wide ORP rim is the widest I would venture on this skinny tire. I mean you have the pro wheels at 7” wide, but still the same 4.5” backspace.

So really not a lot of wheel options I’m Finding for this skinny tire.

I would think you'd be fine putting this on a Pro. Not only is there an additional 1" from the Fox suspension, Toyota does a tiny trim on the front bumper already to all Pro models. In my research the 4Runners aren't as sensitive to tire height, but width. Part of the reason I went this route instead of 285's.

I wanted to run these wheels until they have a enough trail damage that they're unsightly. At which point I'll go with something a bit wider and different offset. I MAY move to 285's at that point, unless the 255's serve me well then I'll just keep with them. Hell...if mine get beat up and I'm happy with how they've performed I may just grab another set of OR take off wheels and do the same setup. I, too, don't like the idea of spacers. I know hubcentric are perfectly fine but it's just one less thing for me to worry about when doing maintenance/safety checks.

Had a chance to put these tires through the paces on a bunch of trials out in Arizona this past week. Couldn’t be happier with how they performed. I aired down to 20psi and grip was fantastic in both the rocks and the soft stuff. I even did a trial outside Wickenburg that had my zig zagging back and forth across a wash (shallow river) without a hiccup. Added to the fact that I also drove there and back from Chicagoland (1800 miles each way) with great on road manners I’m fully satisfied with my decision.

Do you have a fifth one in the spare undercarriage of the truck? I’m looking at getting these as what’s offered by Toyo, but wondering if it fits in the spare tire undercarriage slot.

Yep. It fits under there no problem. I have a pic in the first post showing it cause it was a concern of mine as well.

I'm at 40 cold and it gets up to about 42 when warmed up. It's all subjective but this game me the most comfortable ride.

    Hey bigshmoop,
I love that tire wheel combo you have. It’s been a year since you got the Wildpeak AT3W’s how are they holding up? I see you’re happy with the off road performance. How do they handle the wet/rain? Would you still do this combo? Asking because I have a 2023 ORP and looking to do that same set up. I already have the Wescott Preload collars on but not the top hat spacers. Planning on adding the spacers when I get new tire set up. Thanks.
    Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you as well.

They're holding up great. I've put 25,000 miles on them this past year and they haven't missed a beat. I'm getting ready for another 5-6K mile road trip in February. I've had them in pretty much every imaginable condition you'd throw at AT tires and they've continued to impress me. I rotate them every 5,000 miles with oil changes and they're wearing perfectly (13/32's last check). The ride is quiet and predicable. No issues with heavy rain, snow, sand, dirt, mud (nothing TOO deep), and water crossings. They been everywhere from the beach to snow covered mountains. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again or recommend them anyone.

    Only "downsides" are:
    - E load rated. This seems to bother some folks but I hardly notice. I don't want to my 4Runner to feel like it's riding around on marshmallows.
    - 255 instead of 285 width. Many prefer the wider appearance of the 285's, I like the the taller look of the 255's.

    Hey big
Thanks for that thorough review on the AT3W’s. I’ve been watching a lot of reviews on them and they are my first choice when these stock ones wear out. I’m glad to hear they do so well because I’ve read that back in 2021 they changed the compound of the AT3W’s to save $ and that’s why I was wondering, glad you cleared that up. Were you going to get a lift or did you do that already. Thanks again for the good info.
