This a VERY subjective topic. There are pros and cons to both. Go drive both and determine which one feels right for your needs.

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
get it, you have the better of both worlds, you have better handling on road and better articulation off road.

When we bought the '16 4R we thought it had KDSS, because the Canadian brochure said so. We were sure pleased with the way it handled and how it took the curves on our twisty mountain highways at all legal, and illegal, speeds. It was so very much better than the '15 Wrangler JKU we traded on it. Then, one day, I saw a photo of KDSS on this forum so I decided to look under our truck. No KDSS, and we don't miss it one bit. - Cheers, Ted :canada:

If you plan on keeping it stock KDSS is probably better but if you ever plan on suspension modifications/sliders etc it is probably easier not to deal with the KDSS. I didn't want it....

I test drove both and ended up getting kdss I coud definitely feel the difference in turns and off road. I only plan to do a 2.5 to 3 inch lift so works for me. The other thing that you should know is with the kdss the front skid is half a inch or so lower to accommodate the thicker sway bars so you'll lose a bit of clearance but it hasn't stopped me yet. Few scratches on the plate but went over every obstacle I threw at it.

    oh the list....!
OK, have to agree with some of the other posters. It is subjective. However, I must say that for me, the sensation that I am cornering on rails on tight S turns is AWESOME!! The other aspect that is nice is the somewhat 'smoother' ride I get on the highway... YMMV.

I drove both, could definitely feel the difference with kdss. But went bought the non kdss. Complicated hydraulic suspensions scare me as far as long term functionality. Fixing a problem could get expensive...

I have a 2008 Sport with the Xreas system. I love the way it handles. However as it gets closer to replacement I'm having a hard time justifying the replacement cost (~$2500).

Think the early kdss systems had some issues but haven't heard of any lately think most of those were ironed out its really just a simple hydraulic pushing on sway bars on driver side. The xreas on previous model was more sophisticated and problematic so I've read and thus the switch to kdss

I have KDSS on my 2012 and it is lifted, I can tell you as far as im concerned I hated the way the NON KDSS drove in the turns. Well hated is a strong word...it just didnt feel as stable in the turns as my buds lifted 2010 and we have pretty much all the same mods. At 81k miles I havent had a single issue with it yet. One of my customers has a 2015 we had to do a KDSS side side leveling procedure on it.

Out of curiosity, what did that cost (I assume it had to be done at a dealership.)

We aren't a dealership....i think it was just 1 hours labor charge.... maybe hour and a half.
