Bed Liner (interior)

I am sure this has been discussed but so far my search doesn't show anything.
I am considering removing all carpet (pretty much shot) and having a bed liner applied front to back of the interior. Anyone have advice, cautions or recommendations?

 

My 84 had this done from the previous owner. Holding up ok but it adds noise to the cab as it's bed and cab together and not separate like a pickup. It didn't look like it was prepped very well either, Just sprayed on top of the paint and left holes open. Some of it is starting to peel and chip. I plan on buying a giant rubber mat from a farm supply store, much cheaper than the pre-cut bed liners. Then I'll custom cut out the bed. That will add some noise barrier but still provide some protection.

 

Yours was sprayed in correct? I like the idea of incorporating the rubber mat on top of a sprayed liner.

 

I think it's rolled on, it's pretty thick.

 

Which ever way you apply it and you want it to stick real good, vac, wash and clean real good then rub it all down with clean rags and acetone.

 

I'm going to add you want to sand everything down as well. Rough up the surface so it has something to adhere to. My 86 4runner was completely bedlined and my 92 pickup has the rockers bedlined. I sanded before applying and the bedliner on my 92 has held up great and it's 10 plus years old.
