The quality on this is off a bit. Was in the Smoky Mountains, and had a monocular up to my phone lens too try and get a shot of this cub... maybe it's time to invest in a real camera

Not a bad picture at all. The left side of the tree appears quite sharp and the cub is in focus. A good day in the woods.

More Pictures from when I was in Upstate NY, I would make a "Subject" out of anything everything that would catch my eye, the statues were a great one because you can take your time and experiment with different things as much as you want with only the changing of the light to factor in.

While in Costa Rica a five years ago we watched a Fer-de-lance viper kill and consume a rabbit. Very fascinating!

Took these June 16, 2018 in Glen Allen, Mississippi. These ruins are all that is left of a church in this community in the Mississippi Delta. There isn't much in the community other than a few fishing cabins around Lake Washington.

If you like those, you may appreciate these @VTECMoonWalker:

    1) The Illinois monument in the Vicksburg National Military Park (Vicksburg, MS)

    20200731_114422.jpg

    2) The Ruins of Windows (near Port Gibson, MS).

The history of this house is rather unique. The house was used by Union and Confederate forces in the Civil War. The original family abandoned the home when Union forces were in the area. The house had a "observation deck" type area at the top of the house that could see out to the MS River. After the war, the original family returned to claim their home. As the story goes, what destroyed the house was a lit cigarette while the family was throwing a party. It didn't take long for the house go to up in a blaze. The only parts that survived were these columns. The family abandoned the property. There were no pictures taken of the home. And several years after the house had burned, inside a Union soldier's diary, a sketch was found of the home. Over time, the outdoor elements have caused the columns to start to fall apart. The state of Mississippi erected "protective fencing" around the columns to keep people out of the column area. It hasn't stopped people from bending the fencing to get inside the column area. At nearby Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS (historical HBCU) the center spiral stairs are in a museum on campus and serve an emblem for the school.

(Also, an Elizabeth Taylor movie called "Raintree County" was filmed here in 1957).

    3. Ghost town of Rodney, Mississippi.

Rodney is now a ghost town located near the MS River. It used to be an important port and trading post during it's heyday. Rodney (obviously) was heavily impacted by the Civil War. After the war a lot of the wealth in the area had been wiped out. As time went on, the town continued to dwindle in population. A yellow fever epidemic nearly killed off the entirety of the town. All that's left are a few residents, hunting lodges, and abandoned building. In this case, this a Presbyterian church. Story goes is that during the Civil War, a Union gunboat was anchored at port of Rodney. The priest invited the Union gunboat captain and his staff to attend Sunday services under a truce. Local congregants were none to happy to share services with their Yankee counterparts. Nearby Confederate forces learned of the gunboats crew having Sunday services at the church, raided the church, and took the crew hostage inside the church. The gunboat sent a courier under a flag of truce to request the crew be released. The Confederate commander sent him away with a quick "no." The gunboat lobbed a couple of shells in the direction of the church. One shell got stuck in the edifice of the church, and is still there today. Confederate forces retreated, and the gunboats crew returned to their ship safely.

    4) This is an abandoned Baptist church in Rodney. Nothing remains on the inside, but you can see the water lines on the building where the Mississippi River has flooded recently (in July, 2020).

Yes sir, I find all that to be neat, especially the pillars, id like to see that, shame nothing that's made today, unless it's kept up, wouldn't probably last that long, they don't make things like they use to, once again, great shots, and explanations to go w them;)
