Hey yall I have a 2006 SR5 4runner and noticed this quiet rattling/clicking/grinding noise in the center to passenger side dash. The sound does not happen all the time but does happen when the truck is both on and off. This video is when it's off. Does anyone know what is causing this sound and how to fix it? Thanks!

Is your AC on when it's making this noise? Sounds like a stuck blend door actuator.

    Cheers,

    Sean

OK, I'm still thinking it's the blend door actuator that is sticking. It has a way to try and unstick itself at random times when it detects that it isn't in the position it should be in!

    Cheers,

    Sean

I had a lexus RX300 that did something just like this.
It’s been a few hot minutes ago but I remember I took it out and repositioned it to one side/fully, reassembled it and it never happened again. There was a YouTube video for it I followed at the time

You reposition the blend door actuator or something else?

    Repositioned the door

I see some YouTube videos for 4Runners to do such a thing.
On the RX I did it wasn’t a difficult job..z
