Has anyone noticed the amount of Lunar Rock imposters out there?

I drove past a Bronco painted very similar to Lunar Rock. Or is this my "newbie" imagination?

    Asking for a friend.

Matte Gray, blue/gray is a pretty popular color, pretty much every auto maker has a version of it now. I wouldn't call any of them imposters.

I think the Ford color you're describing may be called Area 51.

I actually think the color you saw on a Bronco is called Cactus Gray and is also available on Rangers and Mavericks

I think you are correct, was told this by a Ford owner when I asked what the color was called. I didn’t realize how many other manufacturers had a color similar to LR until I got mine.

It's been more than a couple years since these types of colors started showing up in many car makes. It's a somewhat recent trend. Yes, there are sort of similarities, but it's all just various "shades of gray" - literally! Followed a new BMW on the way home, very similar color but a bit more blue than green tone. It took me some pondering to get used to these newer colors, but after much thought I am very pleased I went for Lunar Rock - very cool color!

I know similar colors have been around for before Lunar Rock with a slightly different hue but I really never payed much attention. Until of course I bought one, then it became significant and a "cool color". I am a simpleton. :playball:

I love the color and searched high and low for my Lunar Rock. Toyota came out with Lunar Rock as a one-time deal on TRD Pros in 2020, and now it is a wildly popular color and still around. I guess the old saying, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

    Those damn Posers!!!

Colors similar to Lunar Rock or any other pearl/grey undertone are becoming more popular. The important thing is how well the color suits the 4Runner, especially when dirty. I personally thing that Lunar Rock looks much better on the 4Runner than it does on the Rav4 or any other car out there.
