Best new tires without a lift......

Looking to get rid of my OEM tires...Something with more tread but not lose MPGs....

 

Do you take it off road at all?

I really like ypur rim and tires (Falken Wildpeake AT3W SL 285/70/17), do I have to lift the back? I am a short guy so I try to keep thing low

You will absolutely have to lift to run the Falkens I have. They do make them in the stock tire size however.

 

I suggest the toyo A/T with my size i did lift, but pretty sure they come the stock 5th gen size(265/70/17)

 

BF Goodrich 265-70-17 KO2. Great tires, almost 1,000km and very satisfied so far

 

I do like the look of 285 it look tought.

 

I just put Nitto Ridge Grapplers 265/70/17 on my 2016 TEP. I don't plan on lifting immediately and wanted an AT tire. I have only had them on for 2 days. I don't have anything to compare them to except the stock Bridgestone Dueler HT which is basically a road tire. They are not loud and I haven't discovered any rubbing. Here are a few shots that I took post install. I haven't had them off road yet so I can't comment. Seem to be decent on dry pavement and very wet pavement.

 

Our Canadian '16 4R Trail came with Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs and, so far, they have done well, both at highway speeds and off road in this very snowy winter. Quiet on dry pavement, good traction on snow. - Ted

 

I second the Ridge Grapplers. Zero complaints with mine.

 

Toyos are great and have a great warrenty for AT tires, compared to the ko2 and the nittos the toyo preform better in mud/muck and in water.

 

Have you had first hand experience with all 3 in the mud, muck, and water?

 

Yes, i own the toyos and a friend of mine has a tacoma and trd pro tundra, we went down the same dirt road, around the corner. I drove all three and he drove all three, the nittos slide a little more, and the ko2s dont grab as much. Its not a massive diffrence but can help through nasty terrain, plus tye longer warranty does add a nice plus
Edit: all 3 tires are good tires, but in my opinion i rather get a set that lasts longer and preforms better, but the ko2s would be my second choice.

 

This conversation is like asking a person what kind of fart they prefer to smell. Everyone likes their own brand.

Anyway, I'll put one more out there. After more than a handful of different tires since early 2000's, the nitto ridge grapplers are the best all around I've had yet.

Good point, OP what terrain would you be going through and how often? That may help us find a tire that fits you instead of argueing which we all prefer

LT265/75R16 on 3in lift you can fit 285/75R16 with spacer's that my next tire the 285 look real good gives it a nice mean stance

 

Did you have to lift for the tires?

 

i have firestone 285-75-16 they have great tread depth the only thing they don't hold the road on sharp corners at high speed but for off road forget about it they are great mud snow rocks they handle them beautifully. i love them and they didn't set me back an arm and a leg. but i also have a 3" lift on my 4runner so use all tires accordingly. Do you know if the load range is " C or E" ? I am about to pull the trigger on these and was wondering if the
LT ( Light Truck ) Load range "E" is too heavy for the T4R. Thanks

 

Hi Jennifer, I like those rims. Could you post or send me some pics of them on your 4Runner? I think they say KMC but a model would be great. I have a new 4Runner that needs some wheels and tires. Thank you.
