I'm having the hardest time deciding!
I originally bought Camburg balljoints but now I'm debating on swapping them out for Camburg Uniball with the cap. Mild off-roading but mostly daily driver. I'm more worried about them squeaking eventually and if anything the upkeep. A friend wants me to get Mazzulla billets. But there really aren't many people running those. Price isn't really an issue..I just want a good ride. I live in LA the weather isn't a problem. What do y'all think?

I'd go balljoints for low maintenance.

If you're putting stock travel King coilovers on, you're not gaining anything from using a uniball.

If you were going long travel with longer UCAs and LCA's, that's when you'd start seeing a benefit from uniballs.

Unless you plan on bombing through whoops, the potential benefits of uniballs is not likely to outweigh the low maintenance of ball joints.

Balljoints, especially if your rig is your daily.

If they are the billet UCA's, those are very high end and not needed unless you're going with a higher travel suspension set-up.

I guess the question is how much can you get them for and what suspension set-up will you be adding to your truck? Extended travel?

I have the king coil overs going on! Yea I don’t know what to do at this point. I’m so lost. Price isn’t really an issue. Need to figure it out by next week. I just see so many people running uniballs with kings!

My friend sold me on the Mazzullas when he said I’d prob have to get a new car before I replace them. Maintenance is low. Not gonna mob the shit out of it. They look clean too.

My vote is for Camburg balljoint based on what you say you're looking for in your first post.

Ball Joint, you will definitely have less maintenance. I have the Total Chaos UCAs and love them. Haven’t had any issues with them. I was actually torn between Total Chaos and the Newer Camburg Uniballs with the caps. Decided to go Total Chaos, due to many of my friends run them on their vehicles and speak highly of them. If money is not a issue, you can’t go wrong with any of these choices. Even check out the Icon Billet UCAs.

Like nimby stated, based on your first post description of “Mild off-roading”, the Camburg Ball Joints might be the better option.

Also give the Ironman UCA a look. 4 degrees caster built-in, and they use oem rubber bushings and ball joints, so replacements can be sourced through any Toyota dealer.

While I am new to 4Runners, I have had an 04' Taco as a daily driver for 17 years. The last 8 (and over 100k miles) have been with Camburg Uniball UCA's. I don't know what additional maintenance is required because I certainly have had none. I have replaced the uniballs once and will be looking at my second replacement soon. They have been quiet, and easy. I have replaced bushings once as well. I can replace the uniballs in about 30 minutes a side with a uniball press from All German Motorsports (Similar to Icon's tool). I see no reason not to get them if you want them. I will say that there is nothing wrong with ball joints other than it looked to me at the time of purchase, that uniballs were a faster, cheap, easy, on vehicle replacement. Now, with the addition of the Delta Joint from Icon, and further development of UCA's that replacement on ball joints are now easier I wouldn't shy away from those either. But my experience with uniballs will have me sticking to to them for my wife's 4Runner. :) I still will look at the ball joints just to see where things are at with them for this application but, uniballs are a proven upgrade for me. Don't shy away.

It depends on where you live and the environments you traverse. If you see a lot of rain, mud, snow, and worst of all, winter road salt; uniballs do not hold up great in those conditions. I'm not saying it can't be done, I've even ran uniballs myself in the past... but ball joints are certainly ideal.

If you live somewhere relatively dry, uniballs are indeed low maintenance, and a great choice.

Man, glad I found this thread before making any purchase. After seeing all the up keep on the uniball style UPC definitely going with the normal balljoint. Can anyone give any advice on either Total Chaos vs Camburg balljoint UPC and which one I should go with? Going to get some King 2.5 Extended Travel Coilovers & King 2.5 Remote Reservoir Rear Shocks (both front and rear with adjusters)

Well Total Chaos would be out of the options if you wanted to stick to a ball joint UCA. If you are open to different brands and want to stuff some 285/70/17 tires on there, we've got a full package to offer: https://accutuneoffroad.com/product...7-2010/10-4runner-mid-travel-suspension-kits/
