Maybe try some epoxy putty, I used some on mine to hold, it’s not 100% flush like it should be but way better than always walking by and pushing it into place just for it to pop out again.. I even tried new pieces that it clips to and still didn’t help ..

yup filled the area up and then held it in place while it set, I often wondered if that power grab caulk would have worked ?

Thnx. I can see it would make a difference. Its a precise bend though. Trial and error for sure.

Well, I didnt even get down the street after my bumper sat for 3 weeks while on travel, with velcro holding it on. Passenger side just popped off.. POS> What a worthless design.
I guess I need a new bumper or time to sell it. I am not going to drive a 40+ thouand dollar vehicle where panels are falling off of it and Toyota says Velcro it. BS>

Well, went a little redneck on it and fixed it, well made it stay till I can honestly evaluate the fix. Probably a new bumper and such.
I went and put a temporary zip tie into a bracket near the windshield washer fluid. Its a metal one. And, the other end of the zip tie went into the bumper, chrome section of the limited, that attached to the cover. I took its clip out and ran the zip tie through it. Then, lightly pushed on bumper cover and sinched the zip tie.
Then went on a very bumpy ride for 20 plus miles. Bumper stayed..
Its a temp fix, but it is holding so far.
I am fairly certain the passenger side fender front needs to be bent out a little after it was hit and it will allow the bumper to hold in place.

Same here folks. This actually drove me to seek guidance from the forum. I have a 2020 Limited Nightshade with this issue. Took it to the dealership and was told its not covered by the 3 year warranty. And Body issues are only covered under the 1 year warranty. Didn’t know that was a thing?! I was told to seek help from an independent body shop. Service rep said “we’ve never seen this before?”
Yeah right, get out of here! I think my next move is to contact Toyota directly to start a claim? Thoughts anyone?

I had the same issue on at 2015 LE and it was annoying to say the least. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until after the warranty period. Chase the dealers down while you have a chance! I blew it and my time passed. Hold their feet to the fire, or replace it with an after market bumper like some others (including myself) have done. For me, the C4 Overland bumper has fixed it. Don't ask me why, because the part that popped out is still there!o_O

Ever since I did my band aid zip tie fix, I have druven from Norfolk VA to Pensacola Fl and back to Charleston SC. Still in same spots. Is it the right thing to do, nope. But, its visually working on the LE I have.

Just an update, after 6 months , bumper has not moved. Zip ties seem to be working for my limited, to keep bumper in position it came from the factory.

Yeah I did this repair per the linked Toyota Service Bulletin. There was improvement, but it did not completely go away. I could not see any difference in the brackets. The big change was adding a patch of double hook Velcro to the bumper and the bracket, so really you can save yourself the bracket cost and just do the velcro portion. Basically the bumpers wear out an lose their hold where they snap together. We’ve got the same issue on the driver’s side of the rear bumper but that was due to my wife backing into something.

Yep same here on the drivers side of my 2018 Limited as well. Drives me nuts looking at it. It’s one of those I’ll get to it projects.

Thread revival. Do you suppose there is any way to attach a piece of wire to the bumper cover right at or near the area circled in yellow below, and run that wire through the plastic brackets on the vehicle to pull that section of the bumper cover in tighter (similar solution to the zip tie procedure previously mentioned)?

    upload_2023-11-28_11-49-52.png

I ask because I've never had my bumper cover off; I'm thinking removing it will simply make the problem worse. If I knew I could do what I'm asking, I'd go for it.

Mine is not as bad as some I've seen, but it bugs me every time I look at it.

(Photo 'borrowed' from @djwantke in another thread )

I would recommend attaching it to metal. Plastic will get over stressed and break. On the Limited I did just that, ran it through metal , with metal zip ties.. I am pretty sure my pics show it.
Look and see if there is metal on the bumper you can use to pull bumper in.. Good Luck.

@djwantke - when you had the bumper cover off for the aftermarket tiedown installation in the photo above, would you have noticed if there might be any metal in that bumper cover to attach a piece of wire to? Trying to find a solution to that area just not seating all the way in...thanks!

@glwood54 hey my friend, I actually still have my front bumper off (life is busy it's taking me a minute to finish recovery points, at least that's what I keep telling my wife).

So I took some photos for ya'll. I think I follow what your asking, but not 100%. Take a look and see. I can take more photos tomorrow night and then the bumpers going on.

Funny thing is, I HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE TOO haha

Thanks for all those! What would be great are photos of the back side of the bumper cover, specifically right at the corner that is under the passenger side headlight (location circled in post #76. Is that what is pictured in your 5th photo in this post?

That is where my bumper cover isn't flush.

I'm also curious at what the corresponding clips or tabs on the back side of the bumper cover look like that hold the cover on to the body in this area...

    Thank you.

One last question - are these two photos of the driver's side of the bumper cover?
