I don't know how Jackery is still listing the Explorer 1000 at $1099 retail. That's what I paid for the newer and significantly improved Explorer 1000 Pro at full price several weeks ago. They had the Earth Day sale on at the time but the 1000 Pro wasn't included in that sale (they noted "new products" weren't included) and doesn't appear to be included in this one. Given that the 1000 Pro retails for $1099, I wouldn't think the original 1000 should retail for more than $899 or so. The Pro fully charges off an AC outlet in under 2 hours, compared with 7 hours for the original 1000, and it's rated at 1000 full charges to 100% versus 500 for the 1000. Those are the 2 most important improvements they could have made to the original 1000 in my opinion.

I do miss my 1000. I sold it when I upgraded to the 2000Pro. The size and weight difference is quite noticeable. I will agree that the Explorer 1000 should be coming down in price, and I wouldn't buy one if not for one of their (very frequent) sales.

I do wonder how much inflation and supply chain issues have caused the price to remain (or even increase). I think the Explorer was right at $1000 (not on sale) when I got mine. It's been at least 2 years since then. The age coupled with the Pro model being released seems like the MSRP would drop some. Also, that is why I take the time to post the sales info....so that people don't pay full retail, and so that you can compare the current sale to those past to know if it's really on sale.

I wonder if they have supply limitations on the 1000 Pro or have a lot of inventory of the original 1000 that they're trying to move with the appearance of a deep discount, when the sale price is really about where it should be in comparison to the 1000 Pro at full price. They don't promote the 1000 Pro at all. I was looking into Jackery units for 2 or 3 days and was hung up on the 7 hour charging time and the 500 full charge ratings, then I kind of stumbled into the 1000 Pro. It was not on the front page of their website when I was looking; it almost looked like they were hiding it.

The weight and size is why I didn't look bigger than 1000. I wanted a unit that was easy to lug around and didn't take up too much space. With the much quicker charge time it's more than enough for my needs. I got an Iceco VL45 refrigerator and under normal circumstances the Jackery can power it for 2-3 days on a charge.

One other issue I have with Jackery is that they don't say anything in their owner's manual and say very little on their website about how to use it to maximize its life. If you really dig around you'll find "Jackery doesn't recommend pass through charging" for its unit, and that's about all they say that I could find. The only reason I found that is because I started thinking about how you can wear out some cell phone and laptop computer batteries by recharging them every night. Does a charge from 90% to 100% count as one of the 1000 charges just like a charge from 20% to 100%? I had to look outside Jackery for that, and it appears from my research that the way to get the maximum life out of a portable charging station is to not use it for pass through charging any more than necessary, don't keep it 100% charged by topping it off all the time, and don't run it down to 0% if you can avoid it. I'm planning to take it off a charge when I see it get to 90% or so, then let it run down to 20% or so before recharging it again. When I'm driving for hours at a time, I'll power the refrigerator off the 4Runner AC outlet and let the Jackery sit instead of plugging in the Jackery and using it as a pass through charger. Then I'll plug the refrigerator into the Jackery when the vehicle is sitting, and recharge the Jackery every few days.

Interesting. I originally went with Jackery because they were the only manufacturer that advertised the pass-through charging. Where did you see otherwise?

unrelated side note, I'm also running an ICECO fridge (though I opted for the JP40 due to how many of the VL series were being damaged in shipping at the time). Great minds think alike!

I'm not sure if this is exactly where I saw it, but this is from a Q&A on their website:
https://www.jackery.com/pages/faq#:~:text=Do Jackery portable power stations, will reduce the battery life.
Q: Do Jackery portable power stations support pass-through charging?
A: Yes, except for the Explorer 160, all other products support pass-through charging. But we don't suggest using it this way very frequently as it will reduce the battery life.

Thankfully my Iceco VL45 arrived intact, though the delivery guy put it at my front door on its side when the box very clearly had arrows saying THIS SIDE UP and noted that it was an appliance and needed to be handled with care. I suspect it was shipped correctly and the driver carried and put it down the wrong way because it was easier to handle vertically than horizontally. I brought it in within minutes of the delivery and let it sit right side up for about 24 hours before I unboxed it and tested it. It has worked fine for a month or so. I've kept it hooked up in my kitchen using it as an auxiliary refrigerator when I'm not camping.

    Prime Day Sale
(Not sure why it isn't 4th of July sale)
    July 3-12, 2023

Some exclusive to July 11-12, 2023
    https://www.jackery.com/pages/prime-day

There are some sales that I'm actually impressed with....like an Explorer 500 for $359, or an Explorer 300 for $225. I may pick up one or more myself.

Looks like Jackery is once again following Amazon with their Prime day deals. In years past, this has been one of the best sales of the year. If you look at post #1, you'll see that 33% is about the maximum discount that Jackery offers. I pretty much, at this point, wouldn't consider a purchase unless it was at least 25% off.

The Explorer 1000 is near 40% off right now. They have a MSRP of $1099 and it is currently going for $699. The advantage to ordering through Jackery, as opposed to Amazon, is Jackery is refunding the purchase price to a customer per day now through October 11.

You don't like it when corporations act like opinionated people and then only give examples of liberal views. So in the same paragraph where you say you don't want to here about politics you let us know your politics. Remember it was the republican party who made corporations people.

I bought an eco flow because for all the features, longevity and capacity. jackery was overpriced. Originally was looking at jackery.

They are saying "up to 50% off" for Black Friday, but the only one that discounted looks to be the Explorer 700. Which, quite honestly, looks like a pretty good deal at $399.

    https://www.jackery.com/products/jackery-explorer-700-plus-portable-power-station?variant=40257682276439

That puts it at only $50 more than the 500. You get an extra 200W of capacity, double the output capacity (1000W), and bluetooth control (something that seems to be new with the Plus series).

It looks like they have some other items for sale here (incl. some refurbished units): https://www.jackery.com/collections/all

The Explorer 2000 Pro is also pretty close to the 50% off at 48%: https://www.jackery.com/products/solar-generator-2000-pro

What's the difference between Plus and Pro?
The Plus series has an expansion option and bluetooth that can be controlled via an app. Edit: The expansion port does not exist on the Explorer 700 Plus. This is reserved for the 1000 Plus, and up.
