New guy in Pgh. Currently have a 2015 Tundr, which I love, but finding 11mpg more and more difficult to swallow. Looking to switch to a used 4Runner of equal value for the interior/warm storage, 3rd row seat, and marginal gas mileage performance. I know it’s not the best, but surely better than 11-12. Ideally white with black wheels.

I’ll search harder when I get home, but my work has the search feature blocked, so if anybody knows of a “let’s see your cross bars” or a “I wish I knew____ before buying” threads, I’d love to scroll through.

    thanks!

Good morning and welcome from RI!

Yes, sounds like the 4Runner would be a solid choice for you, especially coming from 11 MPG haha. Unless you drive like a complete d-bag or heavily modded, you'll easily get 5 or 6 more than that. I typically get around 20, but I'm sort of an anomaly because mine's mostly stock, and I drive like a grandma on my 60 mi round trip to work every day. It is possible a long trips though, if you can keep it under 70 and keep your foot out of it.

Having the interior storage of the 4R is definitely nice. I usually have dogs in line, and the cargo area is very handy for that. If I also need people. You'll find the back seat is hugely smaller than your Tundra, but still perfectly comfortable for two people under 6 ft.

Searching here for a specific topics is actually a little difficult. I find I usually have a better time searching specifically what I want on Google, and a thread will pop up. For your viewing pleasure, here's a huge wheel and tire thread which I'm sure you'll find entertaining to look through.

Speaking of cross bars, here's an entertaining one on what NOT to do when installing them:

Me too. I've averaged 21.5mpg since I bought mine in 2018. Works out to about 20.2 on winter fuel and goes all the way up to 22+ in the summer. I'm a light-foot as well.

Welcome from a western PA'er stuck in the land of Cle.

I have the SR5 Premium which has the third row. Rarely use it (seriously like 3x) but when needed it was nice to have.
