Are wheel spacers needed in order to fit 285/70R17's on a 5th Gen with a 3" lift ?

It depends, which wheels are you running?

I have the stock TRD rims. I'm looking to buy tires within the next week and not sure to invest in the 285 or 275 right now I have a stock suspension any suggestions ?

You dont need spacers to fit tires unless the off set is extremely abnormal. They give a more aggressive stance and most often contribute to fender rub. You will be fine without them on trd wheels and 285/70/17

Excuse me, 285/70/17 on a 3" lift does not need spacers. You may have fender rub. There are different ways to go about getting rid of the rub with a google search

Something to keep in mind is 285's and a 7" wide wheel (TRD Pro wheels) is not a fitment recommend by any manufacturer. They'll mount, its just not ideal.

^^ what he said...although ive been running 295s on trd wheels for over a year, no issues airing down to 15 psi. If you have a spare and hi lift jack, that'll give you some insurance
