    Hello Everyone,

AirDownGearUp has been selling storage, sleeper and drawer systems since 2017. Our 4Runner system has been gaining popularity over the years, and we realized we haven't posted anything on this forum, so we wanted to introduce ourselves!

As a brief overview of the SS1; it is a modular system that can be configured as a simple storage platform, storage+sleeper, or the full storage+sleeper+drawer system, with the ability to install drawers individually. The drawers are full-extension, ball-bearing, lock-in and lock-out. The drawers and sleeper can be purchased up front or added later and retrofitted. The system is comprised of CNC cut Baltic Birch, with recessed mounting hardware and fold-up wings to retain access to the side cubbies.

We have an offering for the standard cargo area, OEM cargo tray, and 3rd row models. Our standard system utilizes a slide-out sleeper which allows the 2nd row to remain in place and be completely unaffected. As far as we know we have the only convertible sleeper integrated into a drawer system. We also offer a seat-delete kit for anyone interested in removing the 2nd row and maximizing total storage space.

We also have a slide-out table that attaches to the underside of the drawer, providing a massively useful work surface that can be used with the drawer extended or stowed.

I've attached a handful of pictures of our system, and would love to provide additional details if anyone has any questions!

Details can be found at https://airdowngearup.com/collections/5th-gen-4runner

We also have a few 4Runner videos on our youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCzE_lxkZa53dYreT75DY6Q

In addition to our standard drawer and sleeper offering, we also have what we call our Dedicated Kitchen for the 4runner. The kitchen basically replaces a drawer with a module that allows for your fridge to slide out of the vehicle for full access. Below the fridge we have a 'stove tray' (really just a short drawer) and a 3rd stage slide out table. All of these can be used together as one very long extension, or individually i.e. you can pull just the table, just the tray, just the fridge and any combination of the 3.

We also offer a stacked drawer offering, which has been a popular option, specifically within the 4runner community.

We also offer this system with a premium material upgrade call Richlite. This material is commonly used in industrial kitchens, also common for real high end skate park ramp material. It's actually a craft-paper like material with resin. It's clad over the standard Baltic birch. It's reeeeeally durable, has a fantastic appearance and adds additional water resistance over the standard prefinished birch. It's also heat resistant, so if you place a hot pan for example it's all good

Most importantly though, it looks absolutely incredible when installed!

Another option that we offer for the 4runner is a seat-delete static sleeper. We have a lot of customers running our 2nd row delete sleeper systems, which provides substantial additional storage. Because this sleeper doesn't have to stow on top of the drawers, we can also make it larger. So much room for activities!

I have the same setup, my fridge (Iceco VL75ProD) was too large unfortunately due to the way the seat angles back by like 2-3 inches. It fits on the tray but have to fold down the seats. So if you're at or under 33x18.5 then it should fit perfectly.

Goose Gear had no competition until you guys rolled in. Nice kit. I did not find this on your site:

    https://4rstatic.net/attachments/20221025_154308-jpg.117778/

And would you consider a slight/custom change? Instead of 3 legs coming down with adjustable feet in the forward position, would you consider running a piece of 80/20 across to distribute weight more evenly? I'm a 300lb fella and tend to wear things out faster than most.

Thanks for the the kind words! Goose Gear makes great product, so we are happy to be mentioned in the same context as them. We don't have the 2nd-row delete posted on the website yet, so if that's something you're interested in we can send you a quote detailing that system.

As for the load-bearing of the system; very much understand the desire to make everything as heavy duty as possible! We could certainly replace the individual feet with a bar that connects all the uprights, distributing the weight across the full width of the floor.

If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, let's chat! We'd love to get you a system!

We get a lot of questions about how much weight our Slide Out Table can support, so we put this video together to demonstrate just how much it can hold! Cutting straight to the point: We recommend 25 pounds as the max load, which is more than enough for meal prep, staging cameras, etc. In this video we load the table up to 40 pounds just to demonstrate what it can handle!

We're looking for some advice from the 4runner forum community!

What do you guys think about a 'static' drawer face? We are thinking this would be a customer-selected option. You could select the existing 'winged' drawer face, or for about $150 less per system you can opt for the static drawer face.

Do you think this is a viable/attractive option? As far as we can tell, the ADGU system is the only one with a 'winged' drawer face, so it appears the general approach to accessing the storage area under the wing is to simply open the drawer. The top access wouldn't be affected at all

    Static face Pros:

    • $150 less expensive
    Static face Cons:

    • Drawer has to be opened to access storage area from front of drawer (top access unaffected)
I've attached a few pictures showing the hinge mechanism for the 'winged' drawer face. It's perhaps more complicated than you might realize at first, with fiber reinforced 3D printed brackets, 270deg hinges and a 'snap shut' feature that we absolutely love, but it all adds up to more $$$. Also a few pics of the static offer, albeit on a Landcruiser, but it's the same idea for the 4runner.

To be clear we are keeping the winged face, just considering adding a less expensive static option. So, what do you think?

I like this system. Can the Static Sleeper be customized with 1 drawer and the fridge slide?
Also, how much weight does the Static Sleeper package add?

    Thanks!

Are you looking for the 3-stage slide out kitchen on one side with a standard drawer + static sleeper on the other? If so then absolutely! This would be a great setup.

The static sleeper is essentially a wash on weight compared to the convertible sleeper. The slides for the sleeper are replaced with a minimalist frame, which end up weighing about the same.

I apologize. I meant how much does the drawer system with the static sleeper (complete kit) weigh when adding it to the 4Runner? Thanks!

Oh very much understood! Total system weight for a dual drawer + static sleeper comes to 130 pounds on the 5th Gen 4runner.

Kitchen Covers now available! We have created a kit that allows you to have a flat, load bearing surface with wing and tie downs when you aren't running a fridge on your dedicated kitchen. We certainly understand that you don't always need a fridge in the vehicle, so we designed this cover to be easy to install allowing you to configure your system exactly how your current use-case demands. This is 100% retrofittable (i'm pretty sure that's a word, right?) and installs/removes in just a few minutes.

You still retain 100% function of the kitchen, and the 'fridge top' effectively just becomes a short drawer/tray. The fridge tie-down points can still be used to secure gear. We put together a brief overview video, let us know what you think!

The video and pictures all feature a Land Cruiser, but it looks and functions the exact same on a 4Runner.

We've made some improvements to our 4Runner system! Based on feedback we have received from customers on our 4Runner system, we have recently been able to make a handful of improvements, all designed to make a great system even better. Here's a quick rundown of improvements made:

We'd love to hear your feedback!

    https://airdowngearup.com/collections/5th-gen-4runner

    • Flat Sleeper: We modified how the sleeper slide brackets and slide attachment which allows for the sleeper to be flat when deployed.
    • Sleeper Retainer: This is a new feature the is made of 3d printed carbon fiber reinforced nylon that locks the sleeper to the top of the drawers when stowed. We were hearing from customers that the sleeper could move while empty when stowed, so this new feature will securely hold the sleeper in place. Time for some sweet jumps!
    • Tool Free Sleeper Connector: In the past, we used a sleeper connector that required allen keys to secure in place. Our new design utilizes the same 3d printed carbon fiber reinforced nylon and allows for the sleeper to be locked against the drawers while deployed WITHOUT the use of any tools. This speeds things up and makes the system that much more useable.
    • Enhanced tie down rigidity: As part of the sleeper connector upgrades, we've also added a reinforcing plate to the tie down points, which makes an already strong product even stronger. This creates an incredibly secure tie down point.

Looks like it dips in the middle. Also, no way I am fitting on that thing-I need 76-78" of flat platform.

We just learned about the 'ultimate camping modification' for 4Runners, and it's awesome! You can control your rear window and exit the rear hatch with this modification, something the 4Runner should have had all along.

We had a customer bring his 4Runner to us for a system install and showed us the 'ultimate camping modification', which is a perfect compliment to our sleeping platform.

    Hi Everyone,

We have recently introduced an integrated CD30 drawer fridge into the 4Runner offering, which is a fantastic way to add 30quarts of powered refrigeration while retaining a full width sleeping platform!

Check out this latest install and let us know what you think!

We got you covered! It's a great way to go, we've been loving our CD30. Pricing for the fridge will be our standard two-drawer price + $400, which will include the fridge itself.
