Forgive my ignorance if this is a dumb question, but I've been driving on my leaking XREAS system for a while now so it's finally time for me to address it. My wife and I drive lots of highway miles with occasional forest roads. I don't think I want a lift so do you think this set of OEM suspension takeoffs are worthwhile or should I go in a different direction? Trying to be cost-effective without being cheap. Any help is appreciated! suspension.jpg

If money is not a concern and comfort is a higher priority and no lift I would suggest to look at ELKA 2.5 dual adjuster zero lift option. I got the 3in lift version and comfort on forest roads and trails are fantastic. I really enjoy how much it absorbs the bumps.

I'm hesitant when I don't know what I don't know, but that's helpful you don't see any issues with it.

thank you for the response! Money is very much a concern for me personally haha. That's why I'm looking at these $300 takeoffs.

    That's a great deal!!
All you need are those front struts and the rear shocks. You can sell off the upper control arms and rear springs unless you have a lot of mileage and want to use them for replacements. I say get them, just cut the hydraulic XREAS lines off your vehicle and be back on the road without those leaks.

Appreciate the help! I was sort of expecting someone to tell me "no you can't do that because xyz.." so this is great news! Our mileage is quickly climbing so I figured I oughta go ahead with the control arms & springs while I'm at it? Thanks again!

I'd just change everything especially if it is actually new like the post says.

Same - I don't see why not. You will need an alignment afterwards...

thanks for the help, I will be doing suspension and swapping to 17" wheels all in one go, so I'm definitely budgeting for an alignment

You already have OEM control arms and springs on your LE, the XREAS use different struts (and the rest of the cross linked system the struts are attached to). You can absolutely do this, but I wouldn't go cheap on replacement struts; you might be disappointed by the switch from XREAS to the OEM strut.

*just saw this was already answered, what he said above

I have been worried that maybe I'd be disappointed by the switch away from XREAS, except that I'm pretty sure my xreas has been thoroughly dead for some time now so I believe any suspension replacement will be a notable improvement haha. I've just been delaying the replacement. Hopefully going with these new OEM parts here isn't a "cheap" way out just a good deal like bikeric said!

    Budget is what he wants.

Hes gonna die when he see the price to fix the XREAS.

This (Bilstien5100) is a budget friendly yet a good system too. This will also allow you to lift the front of the Limited if you like. It has clips where you you can select the height you want. You can keep at zero height if you want. You can use OEM springs on these.

If you add a spacer on top of your rear springs these shocks will support rear lift as well. OEM shocks will top out easily if you lift 2in rear.

I had looked into 5100s (and 4600s as well), but since I'm not interested in the lift I figured these OEMs might be better for me personally.

Yeah, there is no *fixing* XREAS. My local offered to do the full job for the low, low price of [checks notes] $5,096.19.

Actually, the garage I use offered to replace it for $1,800 but I am doing better parts by myself for less.

There are many shocks and struts to choose from, but as you've learned some struts are larger and add some lift.

If you could find a new or used sr5 or Offroad to test drive you could see the difference in the oem shocks you’re looking at. I’ve had the basic shocks, xreas, Eibach, bilstein and old man emu. The xreas was the most comfortable on road and the base were the worst for brake dive and body roll. When I replace my xreas Im probably going to try Dobinsons shocks on the factory springs.
