While when I was living in Humboldt county in Northern California it felt like cheating, living in Hawaii island, it really, really feels like cheating.

Looks like stock ride height + KO2s? I have the same side steps on my ORP. Any clearance issues with the steps or underneath?

 

Yes - good eye. Mostly stock - upgraded to the KO2’s but stayed with stock size - 32”. I’ve scraped a fair amount and did on one of the Uwharrie trails. Mostly ok and no real damage. You may have notice I upgraded the front skid. The stock had a small rip after a run up Hurricane creek. I recently found damage to another skid plate so I’m looking at upgrading the rest of them. I’ve taken the steps over some rocks with no issue.

At 9,500' outside the little town of Cleveland, NM, we go to this cabin on a working cattle ranch every Thanksgiving. The peaks in the background range from 12-13.5k'. No electricity, no running water, no WiFi, no cell service. Nothing but peace and quiet. Well, except the black bear who wandered near the cabin around 10pm last night. Dogs were not happy. Got some snow Wed evening and again this morning.

New Mexico got hsi this summer after a long drought with an enormous forest fire. Some of it burned through this 3,000 acre ranch. Burned right up to about 6' away from the cabin in the back. The Hermits Peak fire burned 476,000 acres. "Controlled burn" was started on what became the windiest day of the year. USFS is going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to repay for this enormous mistake.

Just took that general route when traveling from Santa fe NM to Ridgeway CO to visit friends this past summer. There is some breath-taking scenery and white knuckle driving out that way!

 

Oh, for sure! I only moved to Colorado in February, so there is still tons of exploring I want to do, but what I've seen so far is an off-roader's paradise. Here's a couple more:
