Hey there. New to this forum and owning a 4Runner. I bought a used 2014 Trail that came with a Rig’d Ultraswing tire mount. I’m curious about towing with it and wondering if there is any experience out there I can tap into. I currently own a Mission Overland Summit (although I’m likely selling it because of the new Dad thing!) and a smaller utility trailer. Any real world experience to share?

Thanks! It looks like you have a pretty serious hitch extension. My 2014 Wrangler JK didn’t need one but it looks like my new rig will. Any recommendations for that? It is a long way from the receiver to the tail end of the tire. My MO Summit has an articulating off road hitch already.

I bought the lok-n-roll hitch and it slides into the RigD. I could shorten the lok-n-roll hitch receiver by cutting it down, but it hasn't bothered me at this point. What you see is the standard distance when the lok-n-roll hitch is in the RigD receiver.

One other thing to consider is that if you get the trailer too close, you can't open the swing out. In my current setup I can only be angled a small amount or the carrier will not clear. It has more to do with my MaxTrax boards, than the carrier. I could turn them vertical, but then I can't see out the back when the trailer is not hooked up.

Good advice. I bought the camera relocate kit from Rig’d but haven’t installed it yet. I like what you did and may do something similar for the location. I bought my camper from a private party and it came with a Max Coupler hitch which I like a lot but the receiver side was pretty short. I’ll look for an extension that will work. I also want to extend the accessory receiver on the Ultraswing so I can use my Kuat bike rack. So I guess I’ll need two extensions!
