orange oil light

    Goodafternoon .
    I am a newbi on this forum and a got a question
    Sorry for the bad englisch :-( i am living in Spain and born in Holland )

    I have a 94 , 3ltd 4runner. 250.000 KM
    I bought it second hand from the first onwer and as far i can see i did not have any heavy duty ofroading .
    Its is wel looking after .

    Some times the orange oil light go,s on after 4 ore 5 minutes its stays on for meaby 3 minutes then its off and stays off.
    \it only happens after riding the first 4 ore 5 kilometers.
    The oil pressure is ok according the oil presure gauge .
    The oil level is also ok ( almost full on the dipstick )

    can somebody help me whit this problem.

    Unfortunately that engine was never sold in North America, and the owners manuals for 2nd gen 4runner/Surfs are hard to find online. But in third generation 4runners, the oil light indicates low oil pressure (not level). If the light is accurate, then there is potential for engine damage. It is more likely it's a bad oil sensor if the gauges show normal pressure.

    You should make sure that the sensor responsible for that oil light is working though. Unfortunately I can't say much more, I specialize in the generation after this one.

    Ok Thanks .
    Yes the oilpressure gauge is always in the middle , so that is ok .
    I am gooing to replace the oil sensor .

    Oh! love that 3LT engine! 4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel!
    Replacing the sensor is a good start and if that does not take care of it what I have done is install a Brass "T" fitting (make sure you get the right Thread) and installed a real mechanical pressure gauge to see what the actual oil pressure is 23 to 30 psi. The Item that can mess with the oil pressure is the Turbo getting worn so keep close eye on the oil level
