Pricing and timing

Would love to get some input on 2023 4 runner off road premium pricing and if you think that will get better in 2023.

 

First, never pay over MSRP. Dealers have been sticking it to people wanting desperately to get into a new 4R for 2 years now. Not uncommon to see a 10-20% "dealer markup" for TRD ORP and TRD Pro's, primarily since they have been the higher priced models. Do your research and look for dealers advertising MSRP. For the past 2+ years and the foreseeable future, no on has or will be selling below MSRP.

Second, yes, the economy is headed south. Will they get less expensive, yes. Will inventory continue to improve, yes. The used car market is already adjusting itself. More inventory in the used market with less demand = lower entry point for used.

Third, while they will become "less expensive", loans will become harder to get and with higher interest rates. The Fed just increased Prime by another .75%, so what is less expensive from Toyota, will become more expensive from your bank/lender.

Last, 2024 is supposed to be a new design. Maybe a new powerplant. If it were me, I'd wait it out until after Dec 31, 2023 to see if any of the above have improved and if the new 4R is actually new.

 

I do believe I have read about someone getting a 2023 under MSRP, so I believe there are deals out there, but probably few and far between. However, there are many many places that are at MSRP, just watch out for the add ons.

Thank you for that input. Don’t know about waiting until 12/2023 as I may really need for practical purposes that awd SUV sooner but I understand the rationale. Would be totally open to used but as you stated those are ridiculously priced.

 

If you are looking for awd, then only the limited has that. You may want to look at the RAV4 off-road if all you want is awd.

 

we have a Rav4 Prime, and that is awesome, I would recommend a Rav4.
