HI GUYS! New here and trying to get your thoughts. I posted below my dealers final offer for the 40th anniv 4runner. It had a 4k accessories mark up. What do you think?? Thanks

Also- i want to lease the 4runner. So $530 per month for 36months and 10kmiles

    ———————

Perfect, I just went ahead and put together a quote for you.

I'm sure you've seen that most dealers are currently charging anywhere from $5-12k over MSRP for 4x4 4Runners and providing nothing at all in return for the cost. We actually have a special on this vehicle, so it's only MSRP + $3,995 which includes paint protection with a five-year warranty and we install a dash camera as well.

I've listed the full breakdown of your quotes below:

    MSRP: $48,137
    Paint Protection/Dashcam: $3,995
    Trade Allowance: $27,500
    Payoff Amount: $22,479
    DMV Fees: $757.75
    Taxes: $5,352.24
    Total Cost: $53,221.03
    Cash Down: $4,000
    Amount Financed: $49,221.03
    Term: 72 Months
    Estimated APR: 6.99%
    Monthly Payment: $841.38

    Lease Term: 36 Months
    Mileage: 10,000 per year
    Cash Down: $4,000
    Monthly Payment: $530.00

Toyota changes their APR specials monthly, so we'll have to wait and see if there's an APR promotion for the month the vehicle arrives. Since it's not scheduled to arrive until next month, we've used the standard rate based on approved credit to estimate the payments for now. If you have good credit though, hopefully, the rate will be a bit lower when the car comes in.

Wow paint protection $3995! never seen any from dealers that is worth 1/2 of that cost, then the DMV fees of $757.75? that is odd where you live that they hit you that hard? and then no return on the Taxes for the trade in? better check and see what your state does there.

They are charging MSRP because they are making bank on the add ons. You are getting a dash cam and paint protection for 4 grand on a vehicle you are renting. Why do you care about paint protection if your giving it back to them?

and 10k miles a year, that’s 5k less than the old average most vehicles drive per year.

My first thought is that this is a great deal - for the dealer.

Two questions for you: Why a lease, and why a 4Runner?

    What @Trail Runnah says.

Leases make the most sense when you want a new car every two or three years. Especially luxury cars that have very high maintenance and repair costs when out of warranty. So you keep turning them in on a brand new swanky ride and never have to worry about that.

The 4Runner is the polar opposite. One of the big reasons for getting one is their proven durability, reliability and low cost of ownership (aside from gas lol).

If you think you'd only have use for the 4Runner for two or three years and would then move on to something else, well I'm not sure what the point is. But if that's the case then it may make more sense to buy it and then sell it. Resale value tends to be quite high on these things and you might make out really well in that scenario.

If you are interested in a lease to make the monthly payment affordable, I would respectfully submit that you may be buying a vehicle that is too expensive for you. Get a cheaper reliable car that meets your actual use needs, not your day dreams about how you would use it. You'd also save a lot on gas $.

    So its $45559 in total?

I really don't care about 40th anniversary, its just SR5 5 seat version (i don't think 40th Ani have 7 seat option). So remember the price of SR5 when you decide (imo).

Lease is not a bad thing imo as long as the total amount you awe is not more than the amount you pay to buy now. You can trade in or sell the vehicle just like you have finance. But if you plan to return don't do suspension mods, aftermarket bumpers or things of that nature. Toyota dealership installed spacer lift and tires at the time of purchase is acceptable.

    Edit -
For a lease the TRD Pro is a great trim you can enjoy the trails as is. But don't expect it to perform like a modified SR5/ TRD Offroad with a nice suspension lift and awesome A/T ot M/T tires, skids, sliders, etc... TRD Pro is same as any other 4runner with very minor mods.

LOL, $4000 for paint protection and dash cam? Toyota dash can is $500, paint protection from the dealer is worthless, it is just vinyl put in areas that could get a rock or bug hit, especially if you are leasing. Look elsewhere.

Def wouldn’t do it your carrying $5000 equity when trading in your vehicle and putting it on a lease and then $4000 on top of that you are getting the run around on the “lease” side of the deal. It also makes no sense on paying 3995 for Paint protection when you are essentially renting the vehicle. I would try and turn around and finance it but try and deny the paint protection and your $4000/down plus your carry over of $5000 equity from trade would net you close to $10,000 off the msrp of the vehicle which would bring your payments for finance WAAYYYYYYY down but to each their own

Edit: your down payment and equity carryover from your trade in on the lease is literally doing nothing for you. As far as leasing putting a down payment and paying extra each month is a waste of money it does nothing for you. Most leases have a “lease price” to obtain it but anything more than that does nothing

Buy a off lease. Let someone else pay the 1500 dollars destination charge, and 4000 paint protection. You buy a vehicle that you can keep or sell later for maximum value. The tacoma and 4runner don't seem to depreciate much.
