I always wanted to start one of these build up threads, so I guess I will. We originally bought the 4runner for my wife, she drove it for a month and realized this wasn't for her. But I loved it so much more then my 2016 trd offroad tacoma. So I decided to sell that and start a fresh build.

    2020 Toyota 4runner sr5 Premium certified pre-owned.

The plan for this build is to make a capable trail rig that'll get my family, dogs and fishing gear to the best hiking, fishing, kayaking and biking spots. Also has to be enjoy able to daily drive and cruise 80mph straight down the highway. Maybe even do a couple toyota trail day events.

    MODS:
    Powertrain:
    -Kdmax pro xt tune
    -Injen intake
    -urd y pipe/midpipe
    -TRD pro catback exhaust
    Suspension:
    -Fox 2.5" trd pro shocks
    -oem rear springs
    -jba ucas
    Exterior:
    -homemade roof rack
    -black out kit
    -pro style grill
    Lighting:
diode dynamics ss3 pro yellow fog lights
    h9/9011 bulb conversion
    Led interior lights
    Interior:
    Teton shift knob
    wheels/tires:
    -17x8.5 RRW RRV-5 Bronze -12 offset
    -285 70 17 Goodyear territory
    -Gorllia ET lugs
    Misc:
    -Fender liner mod
    -Body mount chop
    -black out letters
    -superbumps front Bump stops
    -energy susp. Rear bump stops

First I did a wheel/tire swap with my tacoma. Which meant running 285 70 17 cooper at3 sl rated and rrw rr5v 17x8.5-12 at stock height. YES i had to do some trimming and it did rub on the body mount ever so slightly at full lock.

Next I needed to upgrade the shitty lights on the 4runner. All interior lights where swapped over to leds. Also did the h9 conversion and dd pro yellow fogs. Now the light output is damn near perfect imo. Also did minor stuff such as emblem removals, a black out kit for the hatch chrome. Faux "pro" grille. Some minor interior mods like a Teton shift knob and devil emblem on the steering wheel, etc etc

From there I went to the suspension.

Eibach pro struts and shock, dobinson c59300 front coils ,eibach 1" rear coils and couple of top hat spacers and jba uca, do it right do it once.

I ended up with 2.5" in the front and 1.5" in the rear.

Still need to install the wheelers superbumps and get it aligned.

Also since I'm a welder/fabricated by trade. I'm currently building a roof rack, something that looks like the trd pro and fj rack combined, and beefy enough to carry 3 kayaks.

Finish the roof rack, build a hitch style swing out tire carrier. Then probably a intake(trd or s&b), pedal commander, some sort of exhaust(I want to actually be able to hear the exhaust and have the tail pipe turned so the fumes don't come in the back window.

I would love for ov tune to come out with a tune for the 2020+ 4runners(just gotta wait). 430 gears(currently only 4.56 are available but that would kill my highway rpms). Id also love to find a scooped hood. Rear locker as well

The future mod list is long but I do plan to have this 4runner until its rusts into the ground so there's time.

Ill throw this on here as well. Since my wife didn't enjoy the 4runner. I traded my tacoma in (I bought it in 2018 for $30k with 30k miles). They gave me $28k with almost 70k miles. We traded it for a nearly mint, 2017 subaru outback limited with 15k miles. I love this car, handles great(with the 19mm rear sway bar), rides great, has a ton of room, and as plenty of get up and go for a wagon. So now we both have stylish reliable cars that hold value :)

Roof rack is 100% done. Just finished up the crossbars. Its made out of 1.75" aluminum tubing. I love the fj tube style rack, but they sit so damn high. So this is what I came up with. Its beefy enough to put anything up there

B.M.C is complete! I knocked it out after work today. Turned out great and now there's a ton of room!

Time to kill, so a little update.

Not much done, added front spridertrax spacers to get a little more "stanced". Front valance area is bedlinered now. Not much trying to save money up. But next will be custom bumpers, different rack, and maybe 35s...

But I have been putting trail miles on, really impressed with how she just climbs in 4 low with atrac on. Can't imagine how unstoppable it'd be if I had lockers. Maybe some day...I got a few poser pictures also my "fix" for my broken mirror(damn trees)

Removed eibach rear springs, replaced with oem rear springs. Also removed top hat spacers(now just one 1/4" to level the front). Now Its perfect height.

Had a kdmax tune and injen intake installed. Love it

    Changed if up a bit...
I removed the rough riding eibach shocks and swapped in trd pro fox struts and shocks. Now the ride is much softer(its perfect imo). Also changed tires to goodyear territory mt( c load 285s). And installed a urd y pipe/ mid pipe. I love how it sounds now with the trd exhaust.
