Why? Because any of the shortcomings of the LE can be addressed.

We bought a Limited because they look classy. We love the heated and air cooled seats. Our 4Runner will probably never go off roading but we wanted a 4x4 option living in Idaho.

I wish the OR trims had available full time AWD. I'd have definitely bought one with it. Otherwise I don't see the appeal of the Limited though I never drove one. Perhaps their shocks and springs are softer and more comfy?

I bought my LE because I needed a 3rd row and didn't want the SR5. I also really liked the redwood interior. Most of the other bells and whistles are just that, but overall the LE > SR5 unless you are building it out. What I like about the LE now that I've owned one for a while:

    3rd row
    AWD
XREAS (although I am near end of life)
Push button start (honestly won't go back)
maybe there's one more feature I'm forgetting

I didn't like the wheels (actually I did, but they were unforgiving off road) but that was an easy swap with some ORP takeoffs.

If I had to pick again and didn't need 3rd row, I might target a ORP/KDSS, but having AWD is nice and still might opt for the LE (although there are too many variants now and hard to keep models straight).

I will have the drivers seat on ventilation and my bride will have her seat heater on at the same time. No arguing about the temp. That alone IMO is worth every $,$$$!

I liked the options available on the limited such as AWD and the climate control, but if only it weren’t so expensive to wipe that goofy smile off the limiteds face.

I bought one because of the “leather” seats, I appreciate the moon roof and I like the heated and cooled seats. I could have also gone with the Pro for some of that, but it’s more expensive than the Limited, and I’m not not ripping on the trails every weekend. Features like Crawl on the Pro would never get used. By the time I’m done it won’t resemble a luxury vehicle. It was also more attainable than a Pro which the dealership said was hard to get in. Cheers!

It was for my wife and she wanted all the luxury options like the Explorer limited we sold but didn't need something that had the offroad capability. She also wanted a 3rd row and leather which eliminated all the TRD models. She also liked the full time AWD so she didn't have to mess with the shifting.

we live in Florida. we see a few older ones here, but visited Helen,Ga and Bryson City NC last year. I swear every 5th vehicle I saw was a 3rd or 4th gen 4Runner. saw them in a wide variety of conditions from pretty damn beat up to almost showroom....but they were all running.

ALSO...regarding the 5th gens, does anybody know if the seats are the same the SR5 and Limited? especially the back seat....my only complaint about my SR5
